Condolences to Elmo

All jokes and potential jokes aside. Out of respect for him and his family, I cannot nor will not be more specific. That's his call.

Our esteemed writer extraordinaire, source of many a daytime laugh, and PBH's supreme BS'er has suffered the loss of someone very close and dear to him. Some of us were aware of the personal challenges he had been facing over the past couple of months, yet here he continued to provide us with a few laughs. It came to an end this past weekend. He called me last night to pass along the info. Elmo and his immediate family are going through a pretty tough stretch right now.

If you like to send him a thoughtful shout-out, or pay respects to him and his family, or wish a peaceful journey, or whatever, now would be a great time. He'll probably be away from the board for the time being. I'm sure he could use a little bit of uplifting when he returns.

I wonder... If the idiot who decided to post what amounted to an outright personal attack on Elmo last week would've handled himself with the same grace as Elmo did under similar circumstances. I think, absolutely - not.

More power to you Sr. Elmodefoque and God bless you and your family through this time of personal hardship. You Rule! Keep your head up brother.

Miguel says on Nov 21, 2006, 09:32:

elmodofoque I had the same experience 12 years ago as he is enduring now. Over the last month we have talked daily. Over the weekend something changed with his relative's condition, and I told him to be ready for anything at anytime, yet one really cannot be "ready" for such things.

At his request, the particulars remain private to family and friends, and upon his return he'll post about it in his own words.

I flat-ass guarantee there will something to laugh at when he writes.

I feel sorry for you snr m-l, your life must be very sad, any friends you ever had sick of hearing your whiny nasal tone, insisting on speaking the queen´s english, having to point out how intelligent you are at every opportunity 'cause nobody seems to notice.

Some people write the way real people talk. They don´t have the need to feel superior by demonstrating supposedly higher education. I'm quite sure you speak like you write, meaning like a massively anal retentive loser with an inferiority complex.

Anybody ever talk to you about emotional intelligence? You should look it up.

The thread has to do with Colombia in the sense that it's by and about people who share a curiosity and/or love, etc of Colombia and the many things it has to offer.

You were attacked because your opinion(s) are of the type that puts many people off and allows for you to become an easy target for abuse.

Pick your sorry butt up, dust it off, wipe the snot off your nose and step on back into the abyss, but please quit harping the same old bullshit..."me good, Elmo bad, me good, Elmo bad, PBH luv Elmo bad, love me better, me good, Elmo bad".

I personally wish Elmo all the best in this hard time, but when I go through this page I just see messages about prostitutes, girls, drugs, alcohol and mostly a lot of anger.... That's in my opinion why many people react this way.

Is that politically correct enough for you? To each his own in the world of the internet, and if you believe everything you read, especially in PBSH, that's your right.

In the real world, this thread was an offering of sympathy to a real person who happens to be a friend of several members of this community.

in my humble opinion... after reading several misadventures of elmo, i have come to the conclusion that, in his own sweet and loveable way, is following in the footsteps of mark twain. a man who has a talent for taking what would be a rather ordinary story, and by exagerating just a little (and some times quite a bit), and turn it into something that can at least bring a smile to someone's day. we've all heard our parents tell us how rough they had it, walking two miles to school and back (uphill both ways!), and other such tales. i'm sure that with time, he will be back, thinking up more outrageous stories, knowing he has made at least one person's day just a little happier. dios bendiga usted y su familia elmo! =)

coming in late, but but for what it's worth, my condolences, Elmo. I know that the real Elmo is one hell of much nicer person than the clown he has created for this web site. Many have enjoyed his style, some others have been rather offended, and then there are some (myself included) who laughed at the beginning, but thought that it got very old, very soon.

However, this thread is not about whether we like Elmo's created persona or not. This is one of those not so great things life has to offer us. It'll come to pass but meanwhile it's good to have friends lending a shoulder, a helping hand, an ear to listen and a heart that feels and shares the pain.

Cheers,
Desi
