Concert in Barranquilla

For the "Dia del amor y de la amistad", I thought I’d treat Nelly to a concert.

As luck would have it, there was a scheduled concert at the "Ferias del Caribe" hall in Barranquilla (CALLE 72 # 65) with such big shots as Dany Daniel, Silvestre Dangond and Peter Manjarrés.

Tickets were way overpriced (by Colombian standards): 60K ("General”" and 100K ("VIP").

Since the tickets said "8 pm", I naturally got there at 7:55. That proved to be a mixed blessing. On the one hand, we were at the front of the queue and we managed to get a very good table near the stage, on the other hand, the doors didn’t open until 9:30pm…

The place is huge (it’s an ex clothes shop confiscated by the government from a narcotraficante). The air-conditioning is truly excellent. The sound equipment must be around the 300-400 decibel mark near the l/s – far too high to be pleasant over several hours, but that didn’t seem to bother anyone!

The place advertised “Licores a los mejores precios” (Old Parr 750 was at 250K and Ron Medellin/Aguardiente Antioqueño at 80K). Food was non-descript and expensive (e.g. $9 for an empanada).

Still, we came for the music!

my interpretation was : because there was hardly any space to dance, that is why many people endep up on chairs and tables, hence the exclamation mark, meaning they had to dance on top of tables and chairs.

why every thread of darloup have to turn into an argument! don't you have enough with brad, kostner/medo/ ect

sometimes on this kind of presentation you either dance with someone or just enjoy dancing on your own in a table a chair on the front anywhere, have you been in a Colombian party? specially with that type of songs, you don't need a partner to dance all the time.

Christ, I WAS there, I SAW many people dancing on chairs and tables, and the Laurel and Hardy act STILL argue that this wasn't the case. Don't they realize how ridiculous they sound and how childish their behavior?!

Reminds me of his sensationalism around this time last year reporting about the chemical spill in the river, or more recently, his claim of 115F record high temperatures. Fortunately, "at the end of the day" he didn't write "at the end of the day" in his post, which is a welcome change.
