Come on People. (A Must Read)

When did this TRAVEL FORUM became a POLITICAL FORUM? just like somebody said the old post were better, where are the traveling experiences? where are the post about the beautiful cities? where are the post about the living, the beaches, the cold in bogota, the hot colombianas, the tips on how to score a hottie, colombian culture? i miss all of that, now every single day i come here and all i see is Uribe did this, Uribe did that, Colombian goberment say this, Chavez said that, it seems that this forum is loosing its original roots, no wonder why i havent seen most of the old good times PBH members, i am already getting bored of this forum, i almost never post anything, i like to read about the experiences of people from other countries and cultures are having in my country, i havent seen any picture lately about cartagena, santa marta o bogota, did Peter changed this traveling forum site into a political forum without notifications? come on people there are so many political forums out there, AND IT IS SAD TO ME THAT ONE OF THE FINEST TRAVELING FORUMS IS DIENG OUT THANKS TO THE LACK OF GOOD POST AND TONS OF POLITICALS VIEWS IN RECENT POST, i can bet that if somebody from the EU or the US is looking for a traveling forum with lots of histories, information and sttuf like that about Colombia, they will turn around and go look somewhere else because the first thing they will see is that out of the 30 latest post 20 are talking about politics, Uribe, Chavez, Farc, The Red Cross, bla bla bla.

Please leave your comments and tell me if you guys think the same way i do, or you guys think that transforming this traveling forum into a political forum is ok with you, or you dont think that the forum have changed at all since it was created.

Thank you.

Hardly a must read. Surely you could have come up with something better for your first post. Why don't you simply ignore threads that don't appeal to you?

Even more annoying than the political threads are those threads in which people whine and complain about the site.

Im not complaining, im trying to express my opinion, and if you cant say what you dont like about something then why should we say anything at all? the day we are no longer allow to express are ideas, that day we are no longer humans.

if you want infor en re colombia go to the google search above right and check it out. been here since 03 and published much.....why write it again?

lived there 19 years and love sharing the real colombia with folks.

however, i notice in other threads, you take folks to task for their opinions. why. they are their's, not your's. that's what democracy is all about......free speech. no free speech, no democracy.

like CG said above, don't like, don't read. it's simple. and there's no insult to you and/or your opinions here. just a live and let live policy.

when i look at the threads....like you, there's shit-loads i don't bother to open. they just don't interest me. but i don't bring the posters down nor belittle the posts. it's just stuff that interests other folks.

if you have curiosity about things colombian, ask....all here, who have knowledge about the issues, are more than glad to share. i certainly am. as for hookin up with a hottie.;...well, i'm down stream from that now, but there are countless others who are not and will gladly take you by the hand and treat you to the inside info and locals.

i know lots of places around medallo, but i'm not out hooking up with the sardinas. sad as i might be about that, that's about 20 years past for me, and i'd be in such deep shit with mom that i'd be on line here seeking advise as to how to deal with mamacita in a rage.

This site has a problem,,,
One,, it is a forum for political punditry by a moderator.
Two,, it has become a source of liberal propaganda.

This site has always had a larger than average liberal component,, but Colombia has a socialized aspect.

Last year, one member started posting HUGE cut and pastes of left wing punditry,, in Spanish. In my opinion, that alone probably drove off most people.

There is a SECTION for Spanish for this type of crap,,, hint, hint.

People don’t come to an English site to read POLITICAL CRAP in Spanish. Nor do I believe they come to a site to read political crap in general. Actually,, I don't think spanish cut and paste is appropriate outside the espanol section.

Several years ago,, or more,, the Politics and War section was pretty dead. There were a couple of members with a lot of knowledge who posted there,, posted INTERESTING comments and topics. I say interesting,, no,, they were intelligent and not of interest to most of the people who are more attuned to MTV or don't have the required depth of knowledge to comment.

Generally, because the topics were not that interesting, these guys would come to the friendly talk zone to post and comment,, BUT,, for the most part,, it wasn’t about politics and the war.

yeah me too, well, it is estressing to talk about politics, i dont come here to talk about politics, you only see this on the colombian forum, i used to enjoy this website alot more before, but now all i see posted is Uribe bla bla bla, chavez bla bla bla, who gives a carrot about what Uribe did, well atleast on this forum, this is a traveling site oriented on culture, cities, night live, food, and meet other people, it just piss me off that people is annoying enough to start posting about politics on this website, you dont go to a video-games forum or a food forum and start posting stuff about Uribe and politics, people need to stick to the original roots of this forum as i said before no wonder why alot of people here have left because the forum was getting really boring, for example you go on the internet and look for a traveling forum about germany, and once you are in there all you find is alot(trolls) of people talking about politics and the german goverment, the first thing you will do is turn around and go away to never comeback, well same thing is happening here

Utopiacowboy, that's utter nonsense!!!
GIB was unhappy about the moderation. That is true.
Gomezman had no problem, an occasional squabble, but no big deal. he quit because he was bored.
Rubito put himself above all moderation and needed a sandbox of his own.
Kernow HAD NEVER any problems with moderation, neither had ColombianoX, he even named ME "defensor de Colombianidad" here onPBH!.
It's YOU who could not accept the rules here and left VOLUNTARILY nobody asked you to leave.

I've had enough of this BS; UC. You're either here and post and contribute as everybody else, or you WILL be asked to leave if you just come here occasionally to stir the pot, cause trouble and create miscontent..

Actually I CAN accept the rules. I just want them to apply to EVERYBODY all the time. Not just some of the people some of the time. Don't you guys ever examine your own actions to see just why everyone complains so much and why so many people have left? It would be great if you would just fess up and say, yeah you're right, we haven't policed the forum as we should have, we haven't read all the posts, we haven't banned people who deserved it, we have let certain people get away with blue murder but from this point forward, we are going to take it seriously and do a good job. How hard would that be? The reason you can't is because, all evidence to the contrary, you think you're doing a good job even if no one else does. And you can delete my account - the pantheon of posters who have left is a group of which I am honored to be a part.

BTW, Gomezman complained about the moderation numerous times, it was the principal reason he left.

Joel y Luza, my apologies. This is an issue with UC that goes a long way back.

UC, I have never said that we don't make any mistakes. Of course we do, we're not full-time professional police, just voluntary community forum managers. The only guidelines we have is our set of rules, the general purpose and philosophy of this forum and our own flawed judgement. But I deny categorically that I should have favorites or give some people more freedom of expression ON PURPOSE. That's a personal attack and puts my integrity in doubt. If you cannot believe that I do the best job to my knowledge and am honest about it then I don't see how we can continue to have any communication.

Desi, if you will notice, that for all these years, I have never seen any females banned, except maybe the one who got in a cat fight with one of your favorites, can't remember the name. As with the one that UTC had problems with LZ and a few more female posters whining considerable to get certain males kicked off. Yes,in your few years of moderating, when certain favs where shown to you that they broke the rules, they received just a hand slap, or the tables of the past were turned against them. Many members get away with posting things not about Colombia, disrespect other members,or wonder "hey where is my buddy post" gets old and boring and really does not contribute to the forum. Please Desi do not use the integrity card, thank you

So I could not have come on here after reading this website for a few years? Nothing against you personally, but you do go overboard on trying to push your agenda or your mindset as an aggressor, not as your job of Queen Moderator I. Now, as a start, how about I start comparing the travel similarities between Colombia and Australia: Colombia - relatively cheap. Australia - extremely high cost of living. Australia - rugged and beautiful scenery, Colombia - likewise. Colombia - accessible by buses which are dirt cheap, Australia - difficult to get around due to high prices of transportation and massive distances....

See. no one cares :)
