Comcel killed my Sim for No Papers Bullcrap

Comcel decided to kill my sim chip after a year and a half and not because of not buying minutes which I do every two weeks but because of no papers filed..for the prepaid sim chip which I was not aware of...I actually bought the sim chip from Comcel and year and half ago and the rep said no worries just buy minutes I did not buy from the street...Comcel told me there cracking down on sim chips with no paperwork filed now and you have to have a cedula for prepaid now..I lost my minutes, phone number, and now have to get a new number and sim chip..thru my GF because I have not received my cedula yet...

Has anybody experienced this yet...

No, but I had a bad experience with Comcel as well. I had a Comcel prepay for over 2 years. I did have a cedula when I bought it. When I tried to get a postpay plan, they kept coming up with one stupid requirement after another. I finally told them to shove it and got a Movistar postpay.

It is absolutely dumbfounding that Colombian businesses keep coming up with reasons not to do business. There is no way that they will ever be able to compete with that attitude.

Guys, It is not up to Comcel to do that, actually Comcel does not care about that requirements. Those new requirements come from the Fiscalia General de La Nacion. How ever, most of the Comcel customer service representatives are not qualified and do not explain correctly the new rules to get access to mobile phones in Colombia to the new pre-paid customers.

This is just spanglish, please do not correct me

Jack is right.
Actually, police can intercept or have the list of calls much easier from Comcel than Ola or Movistar, because they follow the rules much closer.

Comcel is to be praised for that. But tomtom is right too: they suck anyway...

Funny thing is I am not a new pre paid customer I should be grandfathered in the system....No reason to kill my sim, phone number, and what minutes I had on that sim.....and on top of that they won´t let my Novia now file papers for that sim and number..I have to get a new number and pay for a new sim....Does not make sense at all...after all the minutes I have purchased over the year with Comcel..they would not budge...

Citing a topic brought up in another thread, this is why by the time the boomers are all retired they will be in Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica and maybe Uruguay/Paraguay - and not in Colombia.

Ya, it happened to me. You cannot buy minutes from a rep that inputs your phone number. You have to buy the scratch cards for minutes.
