I know this topic has been discussed at length, but I would like if someone could shed some light on my particular instance. My wife in Bogota, is currently undergoing surgery for a tonsilectomy. She had subscribed to Colsanitas about 4 months ago. Yesterday, prior to her surgery, she advised that because of the short term on the insurance, ( she calls it 'entrenchment') she would get the money, or part of it refunded after the term reaches one year. The hospital in Salitre told her that the operation would cost 4.5 million pesos. Does this sound right? Damn expensive for Colombia ...? Does anyone have any experience with this 'Colsanitas' and is this how the insurance works?
She does not work and is solely dependant on what I send her. and....lets not go there...
I am asking to better understand. My wife in her translations very often gets things a little bit more than twisted.
Appreciate any input.
Thanks to all
Terry

Gator says on Jul 4, 2009, 10:26: $4.5 million pesos something wrong somewhere! Possibly they ruled it a pre-existing condition and some of their plans don't kick in for certain procedures until after four months, Best have a sit down with one of there reps. Hard to say without knowning what plan you have. "Bene, cum Latine nescias, nolo manus meas in te maculare" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Terry2 says on Jul 4, 2009, 11:33: Really appreciate the comments, but therein lies the problem. I will cost me to travel to Bogota, then sit down with a translator?.. ouch.... and of course, I don't know the overall medical services at all. I will still try to get this info as I can probably get TomPower to do a quickie translate.
