PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
After reading through the Colombian marriage thread, I had a thought. That it would be interesting to see what ¨real¨ Colombian women in an average city (Armenia) think about a subject that is often discussed here.
What is more important, to be beautiful or to be intelligent? If you could be only one, what would you choose?
Is it better to be independent, or to have a husband and family? What is more important to you, having a family or a successful career? (BASICALLY THE SAME QUESTION)
If you were given $10,000,000 pesos today, what would you do with that money and why?
The problem is, I don´t want to make the questions loaded and ¨lead¨ the direction to what the respondent thinks the reader wants to hear. Could you write those questions in Spanish in a way that wouldn´t be biased or leading, where respondents would be just as likely to answer one way or the other...where the winner could make an argument beauty is more important?
I was thinking of putting it as a contest in the local newspaper. Maybe the results would be fascinating, maybe they would be predictable...I don´t know. Also, to get more responses, I could give a prize or award of $250,000 pesos to the winner. The only problem is that I would need to find a native speaker to read them, lol.
Or maybe there is one GENERAL question (in Spanish) that addresses all those things I was asking about?

Blue says on May 15, 2006, 06:32: Let’s ask the girl students this question in another way. Given a choice, would you rather have an IQ of 130 and be average looking or be stunningly beautiful with normal intelligence? An IQ of 130 will put you in the 98th percentile in intelligence as measured by IQ tests. You will have the intellectual capacity to be trained for just about any profession or job. Take your pick: professor, doctor, lawyer, etc. the sky is the limit. In fact, at this level, you can basically train yourself. You will learn things much more quickly than most of your colleagues.
