Colombia's Largest City to Have Country's Largest Screen

"TORONTO, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX) today announced an agreement with Plaza de las Americas-La Gran Plaza Comercial de Bogota, a prominent retail developer in Bogota, Colombia, to install an IMAX(R) theatre as a new attraction in the Plaza de Las Americas, the country's largest and most highly-visited mall. The theatre is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2007. The agreement reflects IMAX's commitment to expand its network in Latin America, which now has 30 IMAX theatres scheduled to be open in the region by the end of 2008."

Now this publication was made in 2006, and when i went to Colombia this January I went to Plaza de Las Americas and asked when the Imax was going to be open, they told me in March.

If you have kids or even you grown ups go and visit the place it's amazing, my kids love it and want to take my nieces as soon as go back to Colombia it is an amazing experience for kids...

IMAX is cool when the content is good.

That report is WRONG.

The largest Mall in Colombia is Santafe (second largest in Latin America). It has around 500 stores (I don't remember the exact figure), 10 cinemas, a large food court.

It's located in the north part of Bogota (Autopista Norte x Calle 183).

Obviously IMAX is touting its business deal as an achievement with the largest retail Mall in Colombia, but that's not true. Also, have you people in Bogota tried to go to Unicentro on a saturday afternoon? it's almost impossible to walk with the throngs of people in there.

Porn in cinemas! I remember porn films on the big screen in Greece back in the day. There'd always be a functionary on 'wanking patrol', making sure the clientele were behaving themselves. Ye gods!
