Colombians trying to emigrate to the US

hello folks,

well, i have revealed myself in previous postings, so here's a little more about me - i'm a photographer and photography professor here in the US. i am married to a Colombian man who is currently living in Bogota while we work out some visa issues. i am currently organizing a documentary photo project on people immigating to the US. i will be in Bogota in a few days for a couple of weeks and am trying to make connections w/ people who are trying to get a visa in hopes of coming to the US specifically. i know people emigrate to other countries, but my work is pretty USAccentric (not a word, i know, but it works!), and am looking to talk to people who have never lived in the US, but are trying to get here.

if anyone here could recommend someone or a place to go to find people who are in this position while i'm in Colombia, i'll give you a 1 lb chocolate bar, plus i'll be very appreciative. feel free to leave a post after this message, or email me privately...alexyy9 at yahoo.com. i haven't had good luck w/ the private email box here, i hope i'm not breaking any rules by giving my regular email address.

muchas gracias!!

It would be interesting to see a film about people that have immigrated to Colombia.

Shouldn't be hard to find people trying to emmigrate to the USA, they are leaving Colombia in droves. I expect half of Bogotá is lined up right now. That alone is about 4 million people. I believe they most are attempting to move to Chicago. Most will be turned away by a little fat lady, known as gordita fea.

alexyy As all Americans are immigrant anyway, it is just a question of when the migration took place, perhaps it should have been called an invasion?

I love America and in particular the American people, they are surely the most diverse nation of people on this planet, I would have thought that you could have obtained all the information that you require from the folks there, albeit retrospectively.

I personally would not go to America to live however, for many reasons.

I will bore you with one of them anyway, I accidentally drove into Camden Town (NJ I think) and I was very lucky to get out in one piece. Bogota is a childrens playground by comparison.

Being of unsound mind and dubious disposition, I cannot be held legally liable for any indiscretions."¡El diablo me hizo hacerlo!" But don't worry, be happy.

The brain is like a parachute, it only functions correctly when it is open. Pax vobiscum.
