I am fortunate enough to have met a Colombian about 3 years ago, serendipitously, and she has changed my life forever. I have since met many other Colombians; friends, family, and others. Truly a wonderful and heartfelt people. I am always being invited to barbeques, dinners, parties, and of course... dancing. I spent a considerable time in Japan for business, and although I made some good friends there, it seemed as though they (the Japanese) were so uptight, overly cautious, just not as warm and fun-loving a people in general terms. I certainly understand that stereo-typing any country's people is unfair, and I have been around long enough to know that you can find whatever you are looking for wherever you are. But culturally, I feel like the Colombian people as a whole are very genuine, unpretentious, and heartfelt people. I have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum for about a year now, and it has given me even greater insight as to the "how's" and the "why's". Thank you Peter for the forum, and to all those whose posts I read and learn from.

rel43 says on May 31, 2004, 20:51: you said that stereotyping a country's people is unfair. well it is also un-prudent. just as you can find good people anywhere you can also find bad ones. while i also believe that colombians are generally open and friendly, a foreigner will get the red carpet treatment until he gets too comfortable and prosporous. especially in cali, bogota or medellin, and especially if its with the ladies. i guess that's natural and true anywhere don't you think? anyhow you're married to one so you tell me.
