Colombian Weddings

Well, just as I'm about to be deported, it seems I've finally arrived.

I've got my first Colombian wedding on Saturday. I'll be wearing a "smoking", and I understand we will be given the opportunity to stuff cash into a box on the table. Anything I'm missing in terms of etiquette? Anything I should know folks?

As being a gringo in colombia...your entitled to de-flower the bride.

All right, I'll ask: How come it took three seconds to euthanize Eight Belles, but the Womens NBA is starting Year 12???

Alma del Norte says on Nov 7, 2007, 11:27:

Yes, but I already did that.

Don't forget to bring a "Customary Dollar Tree" all Gringos have in their Backyard here in the USA as a Present for the Bride's Parents,,,LOL

***Customary US Dollar Tree*** medium sized potted tree that sprouts dollar bills on demand**** To harvest USDs, shake tree vigorously by the trunk and stand clear as the Dollars cascade to earth.LOL

Kinda regret posting that. It was a joke of course, she's a good friend.

Where can I rent a "smoking", or is that a little optimistic of me?

Are you single? They have a custom where all the single guys stuff their cedulas (or passports) into a bag and the bride draws them out one by one. The last lucky guy gets to take the bride's garter off with his teeth. It's optional but you can eat her out at the same time you're getting the garter. You'll be under her dress so no one except you (and her) will know what the hell you're doing under there.

vicshere says on Nov 7, 2007, 18:05:

alma you could try to de flower the mother of the bride...if you have deflowered the daughter

listo

Alma del Norte says on Nov 7, 2007, 19:36:

You're not taking this seriously...

vicshere says on Nov 7, 2007, 19:44:

of course ...I thought this was a normal activity in Colombia

no vic, you could only deflower the bride if you were her cousin, get with it already.

Weddings are a wonderful way to experience another culture. Perhaps just let this one roll and use it to learn for other weddings, that's what I'd do.

It's an "esmokín", not a "smoking"!

Vicshere- What are you talking about , We all lose our credibility and seriousness when we log on here. But who's worried?

Ay Hombe!!!!!

Alma del Norte says on Nov 8, 2007, 15:31:

Thankyou Diana,

Got one in the end, well the whole cosa for COP 90,000 at Marcela Berrera, but I do look good! lol.

If that's the case SiV what's this all about:

http://www.noviascolombia.com/Bogota/Vestido_Hombre_ Bogota_Colombia.htm

But even the Colombian sitting next to me, can't give me a definitive answer. A bit like "estress" or "espaguetti" s'pose.

The rest of you; useless,...flippin' useless
