colombian US residency going to mexico or canada

If a colombiana has a US permanent residency, can she go to mexico or canada without a visa? or does she have to get one as well. My wife may be doing so FROM Colombia and then we might enter the US from either Canada/mexico. Just wondering if a green card is good enough.

Thanks for any help!

I am absolutely certain that she can enter Canada without a visa on the basis of her US green card. My wife did just that a few weeks ago on a trip to Canada. I also know that she can enter the Mexican frontera without a visa as well. What I do not know is whether she can enter the interior of Mexico without a visa. I have been told that this is the case but I don't know for certain. Sometime in the near future we'll make a trip to Monterrey and we'll see if it's true.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Cool! Keep me updated as you know the bigger picture to my dilema (or is it dilemna?).

For Mexico She will need... her valid Colombian national passport and a Mexican visa may also be required in as much as she is a Colombian national traveling from Colombia-a quick call to the Mexican consulate will clear this up. Some one in our building told me a U.S. Resident Alien Registration Card (Green Card) is no longer an acceptable travel document for entry into Mexico. If you are traveling to Mexico from elsewhere except the US or Canada into Mexico, you are required to have a Mexican visa.

Please tell her to verify with the Mexican consulate in Bogotá

The Green Card is required for re-entry into the U.S.

You do not need a visa to enter Mexico when departing from the United States. However, you will be required to present the following documents at the airport or port of entry into Mexico:
Valid passport (for at least 3 months)
USCIS Permanent Resident Alien Card (Green Card) valid for at least 3 months, or the USCIS stamp on the passport that establishes Permanent Residence in the United States until 3 months after date of travel)
