Colombian table manners - Differences with manners in the USA

Can someone educate me on how table etiquette is different between Colombia & the USA? My girlfriend almost cut my head off when I licked my fingers at the table after eating chicken. I certainly learned my lesson. At a "fast food" chicken restaurant we visited later in my trip we were given plastic gloves so as not to soil our hands. A friend of my girlfriend confirmed my faux pas so it was definitely not just a family idiosycrasy.

What other table manners are different in Colombia that I should be aware of? Next time (hopefully there won't be one) she may actually succeed in cutting off my head!

Don

PS - Kentucky Fried Chicken must have some other advertising phrase in Colombia instead of the "finger licking good" phrase I seem to remember them using in the US.

Licking fingers at the table Actually; licking your fingers at the table, here in the
U.S., is not all that good an eticate either. That's
what napkins are for.

Another one . . . NEVER tip the bowl when you are almost to the bottom when eating ajiaco or any other type of soup. You are supposed to drag the spoon across the bottom of the bowl another 50 or so times if you want to finish everything. Also, if you are eating ribs, you are expected to use silverware.
