Actually, I visited this agency during my first trip to Medellin last May. They seemed legit at least in terms of making introductions and setting up interviews with the ladies. The guy who runs the business is a pilot, which is why he travels all over the world as the lady mentioned in the interview clip.

The reason I went to this agency was to rent an apartment but now that I have local contacts, I don't think I would go back to them for that.

As for the dating aspect, if you know Spanish, you don't have to rely on an introduction agency, you can start looking right at home by joining the latin cupido web sites and chatting up the girls on MSN Messenger since almost everyone in Colombia seems to have a Hotmail account.

They were persistent in trying to cross-sell me the introduction package (10 intros for $300) but it was nothing I couldn't handle, and I can't blame them for trying.

A funny anecdote: a lot of taxi drivers in Medellin think the Colombian sweethearts agency is a swinger club or a casa de cita. I think it has something to do with the way colombianos pronounce "sweetheart" it ends up sounding like "swinger" and of course the pretty young ladies always walking in and out of the place jejejej ;-)

As I can tell from the website,the owner spent alot of money to create the business.For me the whole "romance tour" thing is way too costly.I read in USA Today that some of these romance agencies that promote the romance tours make in the millions of dollars (eg-A Foreign Afair) but one would say thats impossibile..however.if you look at the fees for some of the agencies at $1400-$1500 per head,one could believe it.

For me,I used a personal ad placement service which places personals in Latin America.For a price range of $90 to $200 per printed personal ad,I received lots of responses in which I wrote back to several ladies.I will soon be traveling to see them soon.A great service.
