Colombian Street Maps

I had the great fortune of obtaining a Colombian Street Map for Cartagena, which includes all the streets, barrio names, etc. i thought i would share the contact information for the Institute which makes the profeesion and high quality maps, and is the Official Geographer of Colombia. At the moment i dont know what the current cost is, but since i plan on purchasing one for each of the major cities, i wll post it as soon as i find out. These are great maps to plan long-distance motorcycle road trip, etc.

I was told today that the Military also has a similar map but on CD.....anyone clues where i might get a copy of that??? =)

i just looked at it, and there is no N-E-W-S indicated on it at all anywhere on the map....but when looking at it, the top is pointed in the Northern direction....toward gringolandia.......hmmm.......

I met this guy (here in Stockholm) who said he was Colombian. I asked him from what part and he said northern Colombia. Then I realized that he had been reading the map upside down all his life, since "Otavalo" is located in Ecuador....

Go to a Luis H Londoño real estate office here in Medellin or one of his other offices (see below) and ask for one of their maps. It's not a street by street map but it does show all of the barrios and municipalities and on the reverse it has an overall view of Medellin and Oriente. From Giradota to the north to Guatape on the east down south to La Union and as far west as La Estrella.

Ok, this place only has the following maps available at $8,000 cop each:

Bogota, Medellin, Pereira, and Cartagena.

Apparently there are other larger area maps (ie, Manizales and surrounding cities/pueblos, etc) for $15,000 cop, but were out of stock.

These are good quality maps, similar to AAA issued maps, on good quality paper. Shows all the streets, urbanizaciones, and barrios. The Ctg one even has the names of the Edificios in Centro, Bocagrande, Getsemaní, Castillogrande, and El Laguito, as wells as the more popular restaurants, tourist traps.
