Colombian sportmen

Maybe if we put Tejo in the Olympic we will have a better chance to win a Gold medal!!

what's wrong with our sportsmen, so many sport and we don't compete in many of them! what is colderportes doing? because the 2 Colombians who won medals are not belong to coldelportes

why is that Colombia can't make a good swimmer or gymnast or any other sport, lack of fund, some sport being just for the middle classes , lack of opportunities, or we are just no a nation of sportsmen.

Because many colombian good sportwomen rather go to UK to knit hats :-)

Other reasons

corruption

tax money going elsewhere or to a few particular pockets instead of promoting spormantship.

The sport we will win would be, "empinando el codo"

One of the athletes from Cameroon who won a medal thanked the french who made it possible for her to practice in France together with french athletes.

Isn´t there a way for colombian atheletes to do something like this?

Formula Smiles – Formula Smiles is a non-profit organization founded by Montoya and his wife Connie that utilizes sports to improve the quality of life of Colombian children. The Foundation provides the necessary equipment and teachers to enable under-privileged kids to engage in athletics in an academic and recreational manner. The primary goals of the foundation are to teach values that will make the children better citizens, reinforce what has been learned in school, keep them away from drugs and violence and most importantly give them a reason to smile. I personally think there's no heart in it. It's as if they don't care enough. Here in the US is more of passion than anything else and the feeling proud of your accomplishments. I haven't seen this kind of passion to be good at something in Colombia. The talent is there, the funds are there, the facilities are there as well, they just need to focus on it more and make it a priority like they do here in the States and even China.

That goes along with not many people displaying flags on national holidays, not knowing who Colombia got their independence from, poor work performance.........., not taking advantage of easy oportunities to better lives, not caring to know....... My sister in law and my wifes son both assumed the stars in the sky were artificial! When asked who did the maimtainance, they hadn't a clue.

you guys make excellent point
a lotta these modefoque don't put a lotta passion into what they do.
as far as colombians sucking donkey balls in sports, this is quite simple, but i'm not gonna get into that right now.
let me go back to the lack of passion displayed at work
last time in colombia i would wake up early and walk up and down el rodadero, santa marta.
then i'll sit on them thar benches lookin at little fishies jumping in the fokin water..
about 10 am the modefoques that rent out those vainas, carpa (shades)and plastic chairs , show up.
every single one of them used a big ass rock to hit the metal rod into the sand.
I was thinking, why don't those modefoques just buy a 5 pound hammer to hit that fokin spike, is a lot easier and quicker. 2 fokin hits and that thing is deep in the sand, instead of hitting it with a rock like 20 fokin times.
i don't think the price of a 5 pound hammer is 500 mil pesos?
it might be the same as half a dozen beers.

I'll get there, when I get there!

Specially if shooting from the back of a moving motorcycle ever became an olympic sport.

Excluding soccer, I don't think that sports lessons (for kids) are as built-in to Colombian culture as they are elsewhere. imho, if a kid here isn't signed up do at least something sporty, then its considered a huge oversight. Not so in Colombia.

In addition, in my opinion, life in Colombia is already so busy outside of school/work with social stuff that, aside from maybe a Sunday bike ride or Aerobics class, a commitment to sports seem to be a long way down the list - especially the kind of commitment that it takes early on to get into and through the "emerging talent" stahe.

And why would I not be really Colombian? Because I can speak and write English fluently? If that's the case, that just shows what an ignoramus you are, as if we didn't already know.

But what isn't an act is that you're what they call white trash!
