Hello All, my name is Jessica. This website was amongst a few that were recommended to me for those interested in traveling to Colombia. It would be nice to get some feedback from real people.
I am from the United States, but living in Canada with my fiance whom I have met at my university. Neither of us like Canada very much and enjoy traveling extensively. So far our favorite trip was an awesome one to Spain this past summer for a whole month...and we are going again this summer for "el correo de los toros" while (hopefully) being able to hit Greece for a bit. We also studied in Mexico for a semester a couple years back, hence my Spanish is pretty good up to now.
We are planning a trip to Quito, Ecuador (where his father is originally from) for the next year, for a couple of months and during that time we would like to spend a significant amount of time in Colombia.
So I am curious about the Spanish in Colombia, and whether it's similar to what I learned in Mexico and Spain. I understand and speak Spaniard Spanish the best (it's also my favorite spoken version of Spanish~Castilian is beautiful IMO), and of course Mexican Spanish and it's slang. I have a bit of trouble with Puerto Rican and Uruguayan Spanish. Is Colombian Spanish spoken pretty rapidly? Are there any phrases I should avoid?
Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope to get some good feedback. :-D
