Colombian radio

Here is a little tech trick. Most of the Colombian radio stations allied with Caracol mask the actual URL of their Streaming Media. However if you paste this URL in your browser it will open Caracol in RealPlayer without having to go to their web page and use their embedded player.

rtsp://a1639.l1058032265.c10580.g.lr.akamaistream.net/live/D/1639/10580/v0001/reflector:32262

Now the fun part, try adding in increments of one to the reflector, for example same URL as above and change the last digit to a 3, now you will listen to Radio Activa. You can go through all 10 of their URLs in this manner. Some have a terrible ground loop hum in their equipment, but others don't sound bad. Vallenata is overdriven so watch out.

Hope this all makes sense.

I just ran the digital S/PDIF coax from my PC's sound card to one of the digital inputs of my preamp. The result is good to excellent sound from all over the world on my home stereo depending upon the stream rate. By the way Rubiazo, I fixed the ground loop hum I mentioned in the PM, just wound a toroidal and that took care of it.

Sorry if this topic seems slightly nerdish (is that a word ?).

The complete radio list. This is the list I have culled so far from various sources. I am having trouble getting the RCN affiliates to load; these are mostly the ones that are asx files.

The simple way to handle these files is to associate them all with RealPlayer unless you have an aversion to this piece of software, the freeware version is fine.

NOTE: Some stations do not seem to broadcast 24/7, this seems to be the ones with "mediaibox" in the URL.

It opens in windows media player no problems as I'm not alllowed to download stuff on my work computer, especially programmes like real player our IT manager would have a fit.

This is great and it's really clear

One I haven't been able to sort out the direct feed of is Univalle Estereo. If anyone figures that feed out please send it.

I am sure there are some I have missed, I only started looking last night. Please include links in theis thread.

Live365 is not exactly famous for the quality of its broadcasts, and besides not all of the ones you listed are related to Colombia in any way. Anyhow, some quick research gives these direct links:

Alaireweb.com

La mas poderosa

Paisa Estereo (some Mexican stuff, nothing Colombian about this one)

Quitapesares Estereo

Vallenateando FM Stereo

Vallenatisimos.com

Vallenato.com

Sometimes when you connect you will get about one minute of spa^H^H^H advertisement, after that the station will start playing.

gato-bandido says on Oct 1, 2005, 10:07:

kernow62 Not sure what you mean by "download" here. Since they are "live" streams, there is no way that I know of to download them other than by recording the live stream.

If a browser is properly configured, it should open these links in an external player when clicked. Works with Konqueror and KPlayer on Linux. :)

Is anybody interested in updating and/or amending the information of this list........? Some of it seems out of date. In the past, I had used this a fairly reliable link to connect to radio stations.

I was looking for a way of listening some music that makes me remember my motherland, so i found this page with way so good interesting links. I wanted to hear some radio stations, but my PC is old so I cannot install Windows media Player series 9 'cos the computer gets wrecked or something like that, anyway install that shit didn't help me so much. So I found a program called Winamp 5.5, and guess what? some radio stations worked so far so good!

Winamp:

Install Winamp 5.5

Once installed click - Media Library
- Online Services
- Shoutcast radio

Then search for Colombia,
La X is goood salsa music.
