Colombian prostitutes tell magistrate of hardships

FIVE women yesterday told a magistrate they came to Trinidad from Colombia to work as prostitutes to support their families back home.
The women were held at Hawaii Hotel on Agnes Street, Vistabella, two weeks ago and were handed over to the immigration office on Monday. They pleaded guilty to entering the country through an illegal place and failing to report to an immigration officer.
They did not have a lawyer and, through interpreter Yola de Figaro, highlighted the hardships in their homeland and told of working in Trinidad to help support their families.
Angelica Maria Diaz told Magistrate Alicia Chanka, sitting in the San Fernando Fourth Court, that her teenage son was shot three times by rebel Colombian guerillas and she needed to work to pay his bills. Maria Cristina Salcedio Tobar said her children were being taken by the rebels and that her parents were "very old". Ethel Montano Merisaldo said she had an operation for a tumour and had to take care of a baby.
Ana Lucie Argulo and Mariser Arbolearo Salazar were also charged with the offence.
The women were each fined $5,000, in default of which they will serve one year simple imprisonment. They called on their employer, Julien Andrews, to help them pay the fine.
The women said they paid $360 to Andrews for electricity and food. Andrews was not in court. They also spoke of another woman having $2,300 for them.
The women then turned their pleas to the magistrate, who said she considered their hardship but described them as consenting adults who knew their actions were wrong. They did not tell the court the name of the place where they worked as prostitutes.
"The only help I can give you is a rent-free accommodation with meals provided, and that comes in simple imprisonment," the magistrate said to the women, aged 28 to 30 years.
"You are not the first and obviously, the way things are going, (you are) not going to be the last either," she told them, as they were handcuffed and led out of the courtroom.

There's room in the industry for even the mud ducks, as is evidenced by a walk down certain parts of la 10 in BOG. YOWZA there's some fucking trolls up on those blocks! With the right amount of bolivares and the right brandy, Venezuelan fisherman will take you over at a very agreeable price and dump you on the docks outside of Port of Spain. From there, it's up to you to report yourself.

Most of the girls tell there friends and family they are working for an overseas company, so no one will know what they are realy doing but they realy do. Chances is that Mama did the same thing.
