Few weeks Sorry for the question, but why all you guys meet women with children? That is very nice of you, I don`t think Colombians marry women with children that easy. But the marriages last a lot longer when you marry your own kind and stay in your country. After reading in here I see all the headaches this gringos have with wife and child not adapting or using you for a visa and $, going with another guy dancing and just leaving `cos you guys don`t dance or are VERY different. When my fiancee got her passport in Bogota, it took her 1 day. It is issued on the spot. At the time, it cost 86.000 pesos, which was also at the time $40 dollars. That was 14 months ago. Maybe the price has gone up a little, but I can't imagine the wait is any longer now.

The Cost Is... $80.000.00/90.000 pesos You did not give the city but in Bogotá it is at Calle 100 Nº 17 - 25. Each departmento capitol has an office and usually next day delivery. Try MRE (http://www.cancilleria.gov.co) click on trámites y servicios then on Trámites then on Pasaporte Ordinario. Pasaporte Ordinario will give her all the required documents and the locations in all of the departmentos where passports can be obtained.

So, a gringo marrying a Colombiana with kids is not a statistically normal occurrence. It is indeed rare.

I am 37 and now 7 months with somebody and we are not rushing marriage and she has a daughter which i get along great..with her..and respect her relationship with her father..My novia is 27 and I think that is good age compared to my age..If your in the states and you start dating a woman in your age group most likely she has kids from previous marriage or whatever.. Well for me I might as well get use to it because I date older woman..because of my age..Now I agree with you in younger age group yes I would not get involved with a woman if she had kids but that was years ago for me in my twenties..and I am not going to start dating girls more than 10 years than my age..Now in Colombia many woman have kids at a early age its normal...

So I think there is nothing wrong with that and have a great relationship with somebody right now and both happy..in Medellin..

I don't know about any others here but thats how I feel

There is nothing wrong I am just curious. I was married with and American that I met here and had a son with him. I have a huge family and many nieces, and their friends, and none of them are single mothers, they are busy going to the U to be doctors, engineers, architects, etc.
The families I know are very close and the girls don`t just go on the weekends with their boyfriends, It is a very different mentality. By no means I am saying the ones that do is wrong, I just know a very different up bringing. I never went on a date by myself when I was growing up in Colombia, always with a chaperon, I know things are different now days, but the circle of people I know is very old fashion.
I actually think it is very nice of you guys to take a woman and their child, a bit risky and difficult but very nice of you.

It makes you a foreigner that wanted to find a girl more than twice your age,(maybe a campesino or an Indian, or a Chocuano) you know that the adds are very slim. It will work for few years, but do you see her with you when you are in your 60`s?- 70`s?. But I wish you the best, I am speaking just for the statistics.
We all like a younger mate, but 25 years is a little too much!.

Gringos hook up with Colombianas with kids because they're losers who can't do any better than that. If they could have done better, they would have stayed home instead of hooking up with some Third World chick. By the same token, the Colombianas who hook up with these guys are also losers who can't snag a Colombiano. So there you have it, losers with losers. Which explains a lot of these "sad" stories that you hear later.

Lisa Zee I have found that there is a much higher percent of Colombianos my age that have a much younger wife than is common in the U.S. just like there is a much lower percentage of Colombianos willing to marry a women with children.

Could be the two are related. Seems to me that if you are marrying a woman half your age there is less chance of her having children.

Question: My girlfriend is a Colombian national who has been living in Venezuela for several years (with a id#). We want to get her a passport. Does she need to travel back to Colombia or is this something she could do in Venezuela, say at the Colombian Embassy in Caracas? Or can it even be done by mail?
