I made my first trip to Colombia last month (Bucaramanga) to visist my girlfriend who I had met in Aruba. She is back home now in Colombia. She owns NOTHING. No job, no house, etc. My understanding is that she has little chance of getting a visa without these things. I very much want her to come up to the States sometime this year.
(I am 41 and not easily fooled by a girl simply looking to meet a rich gringo (of which I am not) so, please no snide remarks about green-card schemes.
Does anybody know any "tricks" about getting around the normal process of getting a travel visa to the States?
Thanks in advance for any input.

If you can get her into Mexico (not so easy), you should not have too much problem getting her into the US. Of course you'd be violating the law in doing so. Have you seen Cartagena, Santa Marta, San Andres? I submitted K-1 visa app. Dec 30th, we have our embassy interview April 11tth. And pray all goes well, she and family will be here soon after. Of course all of this depends on where you live in the US due to differnet processing times at the service centers, but it is a fairly rapid process now if you have all papers in order. But like I said, maybe getting to know her in Colombia first for a couple trips is a good option.

lpdiver says on Apr 12, 2005, 17:33: TC I doubt you will get a tourist visa for her. You can try like I did but she was rejected. Most (not all) of the Colombianas in Aruba are hookers. I met my wife there and she wasn't a hooker but MOST are...beware. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Jpine says on Apr 15, 2005, 12:40: dont know his wife been to aruba many times...i am not the one claiming that the only colombian women in aruba are hookers. just think its funny he says almost all colombian women in aruba are hookers,,,except his wife. seems odd to me. he claims just ask a girl if she is a hooker or not. what hooker who has "claimed" you is going to say "yeah im a hooker" just funny thats all.

Sonny says on Apr 15, 2005, 17:24: You will need a passport now to cross over the border from Mexico into the USA even if you got her to mexico. I just came from there this past weekend and I was asked for my passport and that of my daughter. Thankfully we had them.

lpdiver says on Apr 18, 2005, 06:49: JPine I worked and lived in Aruba and my statement still stands. Most of the Colombian single women in Aruba are hookers. My duties included locating missing expats. In eighty percent of the cases they were laid up whore houses. Prostitution while not a glamor occupation is not the horrible thing that most people in the U.S. would perceive. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

utopiacowboy says on Apr 18, 2005, 16:44: So the expats went AWOL and were living in whorehouses in Aruba? It could be a lot worse than that. lpdiver says on Apr 19, 2005, 04:36: Yup And it was my job to locate them. Not bad work if you can get it...jejeje. My wife didn't believe I was making job related visits for some time. Can't say that I blame her actually. Most of the whorehouses had respectable restaurants associated with them. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
