I would say that many get drunk at night and in the day..as for what the Colombiana tolerates? That is a very hard question to answer...To answer this you would have to know more about the specific Colombiana..ie, kids, looks, finances, etc..

The Colombiana will put up with a great deal in her quest to have a family and a what she may think is a loving spouse..that is really what she desires a family and a loving man..she will allow a great deal of abuse from the drunk if he meets or attempts to meet one or both of these desires...what she will tolerate is also tempered by if she is pretty and can find another drunk that can do better, if she is saddled with many kids where she can seriously not leave, and how how poor she is comes into play in this equation..so you see it actually is really a complicated question..either way I feel for the Colombiana..many have cried on my shoulder about their dilemmas..

Kat--I see Colombianas here in Miami at a Colombian Taberna I go to sometimes and they sure can outdrink me. Many times when I go to this place I see 3-6 Colombianas sitting around a table with a big bottle of that Aguardiente throwing down Shots. They drink as much as the Guys. I feel like a fish out of water at this place as I drink Diet Coke on Ice only as its a long drive home from Kendall(30 miles) and lots of police looking for Drunk drivers. I can't believe these People in this Bar actually drive later on after stumbling out drunk but they do. Suicidal,,,Latinos aren't as preoccupied as Americans are about drinking and driving...

My father-in-law (R.I.P.) used to go to the tienda at the corner and get very drunk on aguardiente, with a couple of other old guys. Not all the time, but perhaps, say, once a a month. Then hed get home, late and be very sick the next day. My mother-in-law used to be furious, give him the worst tongue-lashing I've ever heard from the mouth of a woman, scream, call him names and when she calmed down, make some sancocho de gallina to make him feel better, The cantaleta would start again a little later, she would cry, poor of her with such a worthless husband and then she would give him more sancocho and alka seltzer, sal de frutas lua and aspirina de bayer and send him back to bed to sleep it off.

my mum was the same and still is with everybody at home over Christmas, she wakes in the morning and see people everywhere, friends etc, because of the smell of alcohol and lifeless bodies jejeje she said she feel like in a hospital and the cantaleta start, then with my sis they do a big caldo de costilla for everyone.


One thing is In Colombia i have seen very few girls behaving like the British girls do when they are drunk , here they seem to lose the sense of everything. In the UK i think it is a big problem here girls seem to be drinking more than boys

Colombians dance drink and party hard ,just like the rest of the world,the UK is full of piss heads ,and the women in the UK get out of hand more than any Colombian woman,

But to say Colombian man don't drink a lot ,shows you know as much about Colombia as I know about mars.

They get a little tipsy on that sugary, anisey aguardiente rthat makes you sick next day and cuts the drinking bout right there. I know very few Colombians, men or women who could outdrink a Finn. The Colombians are done after the first night, the Finns keep on drinking their hard liquor (vodka, akvavit, koskenkorva)two more days and go to work the next day.

Just because your experience has been different than mine does not give you the right to discredit what I have to say or dismiss it as if was totally clueless. The men around me in Colombia are NOT heavy drinkers; they drink and party like everybody else, but they do not drink the next day after the party. But this is just an OPINION, just like yours.

But all the married Colombian women that I have been with here have told me that their husbands drink way too much and yes blow all the money on either booze, GANA, or chasing other tail..and that they are truly faithful to their husbands and only want the family, and a good life and maybe a little extra for Momma and Nona..and shoes for the kids and some medicine from time to time for the sick ones, and maybe a little more than rice and chicken every now and again..I feel very sorry for those gals..I usually give in..take them down centro way and outfit the little cheesers with ..ya know the best "the hueco" has to offer..run all by El Corral for a value, few bucks for momma and granny and so forth.. I'm just like that ...its how I am, its what I do..makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

I have seen some serious....big league drinkers in Colombia. But I have also been to parties where there were like 20 people under the age of 30 and only had one bottle of rum and nobody was complaining....and everyone was having a good time.

All in all I think they got a better grip on the drinking thing than we do. But they may do it more often. They seem to want to stay straight for better dancing and flirting with members of the opposite sex.

I have been to Russia 5 times and will make my 5th trip to Colombia in 2 weeks. There is no comparison in the drunks between the two. For one, the drink of choice in Russia is vodka. They don’t even conceder beer as drinking. Lol When you get off the subway in Moscow or SPB you will see many falling down drunk. All with there bottle in there hands. Sleeping in corners passed out drunk. Very common sight, especially at night. At the exits outside from the subway lots of broken vodka bottles laying around on the ground. Even many women in Russia can hold there own with the men (American) drinking vodka. I even saw a boy that looked to be about 14 yrs old. Riding a bicycle with a bottle of beer in his hand, drinking as he rolled along.
I don’t see anything of this degree in Colombia.

looking back, twenty years, i used to drink a lot, get high, go hang out and generally, as far as the house was concerned, be a dick head. i would be out all night, drinking, partying, getting high with my homies there in poblado and when the clubs would close we'ld go to private after hours bars in the homes up in las palmas.

all my wife ever said to me was to be safe. can you believe it? she didn't nag me, get into my shit or make my life miserable. gotta hand it to the woman...colombian women in general, they're great.
