Does anyone know if Philadelphia is having any festivities?

Sorry my friend, I live here in Colombia and I am enjoying every minute of it. Can you do me a favor and tell Philadelphia ¨what´s up¨? I really do miss my city.

Peace

unfortunatly I am stuck here for awhile longer. I was hoping to get some rumba, colombian style, but it does not look like anything is going on.

North 5th st? we do not talk like that. I was born and raised in Philly, and I have never heard of North 5th st. I am sure it is probabaly in North Philly, maybe in South but DAMN. explain yourself better so people from the area can understand you.

Go to New york for a indy day celebration. in philly there was a show last night at the felton (beware of that place). Today to celebrate, you can go to Tierra Colombiana on 5th and Wyoming to hear some vallenato tonight. think it's 20 per person. Be careful, last weekend we went to see Orchastra Canela (sp) and it was advertised to start at 9pm and they went on around 1am. I guess they thought they were still on Colombian time. If you want to eat some fine Colombian food before heading over there...go to La Fonda Colombiana on front and Wyoming. Their food is much better than Tierra as Tierra is owned by Ecuadorians and La Fonda is run by a nice woman named Maria from Cali. La Fonda's food is much better and more authentic.

La Fonda Colombiana is the place I will be going for lunch or dinner today! It has the food, without the hype. 108 W. Wyoming Ave. 215-455-4301 They have videos playing while you eat lunch or dinner. You almost think you are back at a panderia.

Here is their menu. http://www.menukarma.com/menus/menu-for-la-fonda-colombiana-in-philade...

http://www.tierracolombiananightclub.com/ is their website. I went to Tierra Colombiana for food before but it seems to be a bit overpriced. Their website is good to listen to nice music, while crusing the web!

Hola!

La Fonda Colombiana was not so great today. My Arepas con caso was $2 from $1 on the online menu. The Paisa was $11, not $10. The Pony Malta was not $1.50 on the menu, but $2! My avocado was thinner than my my finger! OK, I spent $18 with a $2 tip and slow service!

I figure it is closer to Colombia than driving to NYC. We did see via Caracol the concert on TV while eating the food. I could have eaten at another place, but next time I have that food will be in Cali, hopefully soon!

So how many of us live in Philly? We need a role call. Maybe we can start sharing our knowledge of events and happenings.

By the way there is a bakery on 5th Street on the other side of the Boulevard that sells awesome Bunellos, arepas and pan de bono. I think its called panedarea colombiana. Its small and on the south side of 5th street.

that bakery is very good. the guava pastry is rico.

most people from cali like la fonda better but others from cities outside of cali...with no taste ...like tierra colombiana better.

i'm down near manyunk and know at least 3 other mixed couples of gringos and colombianas in philly area.

other colombian restaurants in philly.....

Bella Noche in the northeast which is half menu italian...half colombian. on thurs nights all the colombians go there to listen to dueling pianos and sing colombian songs. more upscale colombians go there...not like some of the poorer ones that live at la fonda or tierra colombiana and hang out at the Felton.

Mixto in center city is same ownership as tierra colombiana....ecuadorians. food not as good as Tierra but much hipper place to hang out and drink

Carnitas which is on 5th st about a block away from tierra colombiana. Some good reviews but is hit or miss.

El Bochinche on 5th str on other side of route 1 by the bakery. Tiny little place that is supposed to be very good but have not eaten there yet.

Greg, love the little Deportivo Cali outfit.... need to get one since we are expecting first kid in January.

Hola!

Our baby is getting too big!

It is good, but bad that we need to get another Deportivo Cali shirt. Ours has not been worn much. I can send you our baby's shirt after I get back from my next trip to Cali in August.
