Colombian in-laws in NYC

Tomorrow arrives my wify’s mother, father and two brothers straight from medallo.
What to do? What to do?
How the fok they got a visa to visit, you’re probably wondering?
Simple, they got money.
Anyway these are not Jaramillo paisas but Costeَño paisas. All the kids born in medallo and parent from Cartagena and Sagu? Por alla por esa monda en Sincelejo.

Back in the days when I was a teenager and someone came to visit us in NY, a typical Sunday was to take them to Rockefeller Center, Broadway, a show and a movie at Radio City Music Hall ($2.00 per person, LOL) and then to eat a T-bone steak. Another sunday, The Bronx Zoo. Another day a ferry ride to Staten Island ($00.5 cents, per person, LOL) etc. and let's not forget the George Hamilton boat ride to Bear Mountain. Are any of these activities still around?????

we have been very busy at Cotemar refurbishing the jak to british naval standards, so as to be ready for the fiesta this coming season, we wouldn't want any of our guests to be less than impressed. Unfortunately, we haven't yet received your required communication that generates your special gold-embossed appointment to the position of first mate.
other than that, you should have the guest/victim list just about ready to publish.

elmodefoque,

ok so how long are they staying for? what type of place do you want to take them to?
have they been here before? si son pinchaditos you gotta treat them differently.
i think you should hit up something different. dont take them to colombian places, impress them with something they havent seen before. i have some very good suggestions but answer my questions first.

some choices are:

the rego park/forest hills area by austin street.
astoria has many nice european themed eateries and lounges.
in brooklyn (willamsburgh/greenpoint) there are some really nice places too.

just let me know what you have in mind.

toneloc24 says on Nov 9, 2007, 12:42:

They're not leaving Colombia to be around a bunch of other Colombians. Forget about Queens, Brooklyn or Bronx.

Screw that Elmo. Over a Saturday and Sunday, Time Square, Central Park, Greenwich Village, Soho, South Street Seaport, Chinatown... That should really awaken their senses.

You wouldn't be a gracious host if you don't take the father and brothers to Hooters. Whiet chicks in skimpy outfits??? They'll lose their minds. You can send the girls to window shop on Fifth Ave or Herald Sqaure, or even to Chippendales at night while you guys check out Seduccion in Queens.

Then on to the Statue of Liberty (have they even been on a boat before?) and Empire State Bldg. Wanna screw with them? Take them on a REAL metro (subway) excursion.

Then do Broadway/Upper West Side....catch a cab to your part of the Upper West Side. All of that should wear out their senses.

Oh yeah, if they're around during Thanksgiving, or whenever this starts, the lighting of the Xmas trees at Rockefeller Center and the skating rink are always a hit.

Forget taking them somewhere special.

Buy a few fifths of Jack Daniel, Johnny Walker Black etc. They'll love grouping up at your bar for a photo with half filled bottles with a glass in their hand. They will proudly display that Trophy Shot in the family album for years to come.

miamimike says on Nov 10, 2007, 23:07:

I remember well when you could do that Morphus! When the guys on the Merchant ships were paid off, it was one of the first places they stopped at! A Shipmate of mine who decided to sleep in one of those small Peepshow Movies fell asleep and was rolled for $7,000! After he fell asleep in the movie Seat, they used a Blade(razor) to slice his back pocket and lift his wallets with the Cash. What an Idiot, that was ONE expensive Peep Show,,,LOL

so there I was on the NYC/Staten Island ferry, taking pictures of the impressive lower Manhattan skyline with my wify, mother in law (second visit to USA) and father in law (first visit to USA and just a couple years older than me)
They are nice and all, but their taste in city is completely different than mines.
They like old buildings and chit, most of the stuff in Manhattan is modern brand new skyscrapers.
So I’m thinking, chit where can I take these modefoques?
China town and little Italy ofourse. They were fascinated by that old decrepit crap. All those ugly old buildings look like they’re about to fokin fall. They were impressed with the arquitecture. What fokin alquitectaute, they don’t even be having no fokin elevators.
I used to live in those pieces of old chit.
Fir Next weekend I decided to show them a real old piece of chit city. So we’re going to either Boston or Philadelphia, they got enough old chit there to make them really happy.

Elmo - Take them to Brooklyn, downtown, Park Slope, Bklyn Heights, Fort Greene. Plenty of old-ass, but interesting architecture.

Save yourself the gas on Boston or Philadephia. But if you go down to Philly, you gotta take them by Atlantic City.
