Is it just my paisa or is the use of hot dogs (the cheap red ones) prevalent. My wife has put those damn things in everything imaginable.

Bill Turley says on Oct 6, 2007, 19:00: I have found them here in Boyaca. They are in school lunches, they are in party salads, as you observed they are everywhere except with relish and mustard Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

lpdiver says on Oct 7, 2007, 03:21: Bill_Turley...exactly They turn un at social events where everyone brings a dish. I mean they aren't even the good hot dogs. With all the meats and sausages at low prices I figure it is just a cultural thing. I can handle the hot dog in my scrambled eggs; but, draw the line at canned tuna in my eggs. Bill Turley says on Oct 7, 2007, 06:17: Now I really like the big fat coursely ground mixed meat chorizos. They are more expensive than the red uns. But they are good. I like them in the British form, Bangers and Mash. Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

lpdiver says on Oct 7, 2007, 06:23: yea those are bordering on actual chorizo. They insist on using the cheap red ones...I started picking them out of the food and they got the hint...drop a few more pesos and get some real chorizo. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Dan says on Oct 7, 2007, 06:31: I take it you are talking about the little hot dogs that are even individually wrapped in clear plastic? I thought that was the funniest thing seeing them individually wrapped. I'm not too crazy about the hotdogs but the chorizo's are pretty good. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

lpdiver says on Oct 7, 2007, 06:35: Dan...oh yeah those...and sometimes they forgot they were wrapped and just sliced em up wrappers n all. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

ColombianoGringo says on Oct 9, 2007, 10:53: Usually Mayo, cheese, etc. It depends on where you get it. My brother dragged me to some Colombian place in Miami and made me try a hot dog. I was pleasantly surprised. Later, I started getting them in Neiva. Honestly, it had never occurred to me to eat a hot dog in Colombia. There is so much other good stuff to eat that it never crossed my mind.

msaucey says on Oct 9, 2007, 11:09: CG, I totally understand... I didn't want the hot dog either, but my cousin insisted, he's like don't think it's like that boring American Hot Dog that they serve at the theme parks, this one is really good.... So, I took a bite and was plesantly surprised.... On the other hand, I'd like to grip about the Colombian Chorizo that they serve with some of the Bandejas Paisa... What is up with the little hot dog chorizo versions... I used to love going to any restaurant and ordering a simple chorizo con arepa... I did this once on this past trip and was highly disappointed when they brought me a smoked sauge version of chorizo.... I saw way too many of these types of chorizo and too fee of the originals...
