Most Colombians do not even know what the Monday holidays are for, for example May 30 was a holiday in Colombia, and nobody I talked to in Colombia knew knew why.
And June 6th also., nobody knew , they just got drunk or went to the finca, or both.
PS- how do the Colombian men get away with being so spolied by there mothers?? They live at home most of their life and their mothers let them get away with most anything.

juanalejo says on Jun 9, 2005, 17:52: Religious Holidays That gives a hint to those that think Colombia is a highly religious country. Most of the holidays that are moved to a monday are religious holidays. The holidays that are not moved to a monday are the ones everybody knows. 1st of January, Holy Thursday and Friday (religious, but part of holy vacation week), 1st of May (Labour Day in the whole world except the US and Canada), 20th of July Independance Day (Grito de Independencia), 7th of August Last Battle of Independance Day (Batalla de Boyacá), 8th of December (Something to do with the virgin) and Christmas. The only non religous that do move to Monday are the day of the races (Columbus day) and Independance of Cartagena.

Lionheart says on Jun 10, 2005, 19:02: Rain Days in Colombia? In a converstaion with my novia she expressed surprise that her children in Cali have to go to school 2 weeks (I think) longer this year. I asked if they had a lot of rain with no school this year and she said yes. A change in policy?
