I'm interested in doing a magazine article for a well-known American Harley magazine (where I've been working for over 27 years) about Harley riders, clubs, events, benefits, lifestyle, etc. in Colombia. If you're a Harley rider and are interested, send me a private message, I'd love to hear from you. There's no money involved just great and positive exposure.

Crazy4Cali says on Jan 17, 2006, 10:02: Golly.. ...it's too bad you can't look like a "Cool Harley Rider" i.e. an outlaw, American (or Canadian)-style, on a Harley in Colombia (you know, with leather chaps, an unbuttoned leather vest that has "PICKYOURFAVORITE MOTORCYCLE CLUB" embroidered on the back and exposes your ample abdomen and hairy chest, your salt-and-pepper beard flowing in the breeze and the helmet resting on the back rest of your bike in defiance of those sissy helmet laws) when the real outlaws in Colombia ride 250cc dirt bikes and are armed with sub-machine guns.

mrgizmo says on Jan 17, 2006, 10:25: Thanks for the input Thanks for that piece of input guys, but the truth is that there are Harley riders in Colombia and maybe not one percenters but still people who love to ride and love the lifestyle. And maybe they are like BIGFOOT, we know they exist but they are hard to find. Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

claudejack says on Jan 17, 2006, 12:04: paisa hogs? ive spent time in medellin,,and no freakin way i'd ride my hog round there unless i was very, very accustomed to the flow of traffic,,,they drive like maniacs in medellin,,,especially in the outskirts such as bello,,etc,,,crazy roads,,,no lanes,,no lights,,no signs,,,i imagine if i had unleashed my hog down there ,,the cops woulda been all over my ass just for the noise that it makes, and it would most likely draw more attention than a gringo really wants to have,,unless you had a gang with you,,,,,it would be nuts,,,,maybe after a long time i'd be crazy enough to go solo on their streets,,but in meanwhile it be much wiser to take cabs and leave the driving to the locals,,,hell,,its east enough to get ran over just walking around--none the less,,i had a kick ass time in columbia and plan to return soon,,,okie biker here sayin' keep the rubberside down and your face in the wind,,,hasta luego Damn it! I wish I was back in Bello!!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

claudejack says on Jan 17, 2006, 12:09: rich and mean? anyone who has the perception that harley riders are rich and mean are no more well informed than the people who think that everyone in columbia is like pablo escobar,,,but if thats what you think go ahead,,,those people should visit an american style rally, just as people should visit columbia before they judge,,,and really experience it before they make assumptions,,,,hog riders are the most righteous hardworking,,and caring people i have met--most real bikers are far, fare from rich,,,or mean,,, and anyone is welcome at usa hog rallies,,,whether you ride a harley or not,,to sum it all up ,,,dont believe the hype---ride loud and live proud,,,! Damn it! I wish I was back in Bello!!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Lostgringo says on Jan 17, 2006, 16:45: I will Eat my shir Claudejack I ditto you comments. Maybe I was a little hard on these sissies here in Bogotá. You are right of course that you do not have to mean or rich to ride a Harley. However, most riders I have seen look like they are "Harley Riders." Or, they belong on a Harley. If you don't know the difference I cannot explain it. Let's look at from another angle...put a hard core biker on a 250cc Rice Burner and tell me what he looks. Like hell lol. Same as these pathetic guys on Harleys. There is just too much violence here in Bogotá for a 1% group let alone anyone who looks like a "Harley Rider." It is kind of an oxymoron...too much violence for a hard core biker lol.
