Colombian Grirlfriend, travel restrictions Help Please!

I hope that someone can help me. I want to meet my novia somewhere between East Coast USA and Colombia for a nice beach weekend. I understand there are travel restrictions and I wonder if anyone knows the list of countries, islands that are hassle free destinations for her. PLUS any other things that I need to know to get her out easily for a short trip. Thanks!

I went to Aruba with mine last year, the visa process required a lot of paperwork (proof of income or proof that she has access to $, travel medical insurance, hotel/plane tickets, letter of support/letter of employment, and a notarized copy of my passport and DL to go with) but they're fairly easy about actually granting the visa and allowing entry once this is all submitted to the Dutch consulate.

I suspect this is the easiest solution.

Some Caribbean countries have no visa requirement but consequently also have no flights that don't route through the U.S. (eg. St. Kitts and Nevis or Barbados).

You could also just go to a nice place like Cartagena or San Andres.

You can get to Trinidad and Jamaica with COPA. I tried finding a ticket to St. Kitts but it cost over $1,400 and took an overnight each direction.

Been to both Cartagena and San Andres. Both are nice. The edge goes to San Andres.

Trinidad and Jamaica are "visa less" destinations?

No sorry, Trinidad is Jamaica is not. I was thinking about how to get to other Carribean destinations without doing the 17 to 24 hour travel. They are both available through COPA.

Here is a list I compiled from the Ministry of Foreign relations website

So your options are Honduras, Cuba, Barbados, Venezuela (if flying there) and other minor islands.
Travelling on a Colombian passport means too many restrictions. You need a visa to go virtually everywhere outside South America.
Good luck!

Japan requires Colombians to get a visa.
A good website to check if you need a visa is: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_t...
It is actually what airlines check before you board a flight. So no matter what the MRE says, the airline will not let you board if this system tell them you need a visa and you don't have on.

Gator says on Jun 27, 2008, 14:38:

Each has its own individual rule. What applies to Delta does not necessarily apply to other airlines. There is no law or regulation involved; it is an individual airline policy. The reason? If you are denied entry the airline must return you to your departure destination at no charge-Delta is only CYA.

Just go to San Andreas. You take Copa airlines and she takes Avianca or Aero Republica and you meet at the airport. Done it, works good with no stress or uncertainties. Anything else costs more. (there is no "getting her out easily" unless she has already been out a few times before)

Trinidad isn't a bad place, they speak English there, a bit of Spanish, and the people are pretty darn nice. If you order pizza be sure to specify NO KETCHUP. Even Papa Johns will put a massive swirl of spicy ketchup that not even the strongest OTC drugs can help you with.
