Bolivar You can of course get "Maria Full of Grace" which you'll hear Colombian accents and slang but I loved "Bolivar Soy Yo" ...a sad comedy about an actor portraying Simon Bolivar in a novela coming to believe he really was Bolivar...and all he goes through during the movie to bring the original countries of Grand Colombia to the table to complete Bolivar's dream.

You've got good taste, man! I also loved "Bolivar Soy Yo". It was nowhere near as dismal amd negative as other colombian movies, although the ending was kind of depressing. But overall I found the movie to be very patriotic and to me it somehow captured a more accurate picture of how colombians are really like (unlike movies which show us only as drug-dealers, mules, sicarios, etc). I also enjoyed seeing some nice scenery of Bogotá and Robinson Diaz was great in his role. I've been looking for this movie on DVD.

do any of you remember ... the telenovela...'la casa de los dos palmas'? written by manuel mejia. was that ever put into film form/dvd?

i was living in colombia during it's original filming in sante fe de antioquia and the bad guy--cristobol erizures--was a friend of mine.

it still remains my favorite telenovela.

Sumas Y Restas I saw this movie at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Quite hard hitting in some ways but it really made an impression on me. Not sure if you'll find it on video/dvd yet but it's worth looking out for.
