The FOX TV Show "American Idol" has narrowed the competition to 12 contestants, and one of them, Jason Castro, is of Colombian origin. He was born in Texas but both of his parents are Colombian.
I personally am supporting him by voting each week. He is a good kid with good values, not to mention talented and original. I'm not a fan of talent shows, but he is not your average contestant. You can check him out on You Tube. I hope to see him go far in his music career.

morphus says on Mar 12, 11:02: Colombians are mutts too :)
ColombianoGringo says on Mar 12, 11:04: Yeah, but we usually know what the mix is. I for example have Spanish, Indigenous, French and Portuguese blood. Most Americans have very little idea about their ethnic origins. Mutt isn't really a bad word.
ColombianoGringo says on Mar 12, 11:22: You don't know the half of it. Aside from the ethnic backgrounds, my close Colombian ancestors are from various places such as Bogota, El Huila, Norte de Santander, and Nariño. Like I said in another thread a while back, I am a Colombian Heinz 57.

ColombianoGringo says on Mar 12, 11:24: Cmon you cheap bums. So far, the charity has collected 38 cents, 100 pesos and some pocket lint. Let's band together and get this poor kid a haircut.

CatGirl says on Apr 23, 20:54: This guy has been the talk of the town. I really don't find him to be too talented. The hair....yeah, I have problems with that too. He just freaks me out. Cute face and that's about it, not even creative. We will have to see.
travelingirl says on Apr 23, 21:03: He's done well before... he has sang some very cool, laid back and/or "beachy" tunes. He totally looks the part when he plays the guitar while singing, but I really thought he or this other (blonde girl) contestant should have left tonight instead of the person that did. Oh well, that's just my opinion. "I'm just a backwoods Barbie." |
CatGirl says on Apr 23, 21:09: True....about who really should have left - I agree. But the cutie pie? His range is fairly limited in what he looks good singing (music type) ....not very versatile....just my opinion (ja!)..but what do I know I handglide ...LOL - OK I gotta be in Utah by 3am...talk to you when I can - Chao

Mononoke28 says on Apr 29, 08:49: I don't watch it either but I think he's close to being kicked out based on what was said last week. I guess people couldn't believe that other girl was eliminated and he wasn't. Diana |
MaFe says on Apr 29, 08:56: Mononoke, What did he say? I don't watch it either...I think he's adorable but I agree with that hair...must be so smelly! "No comment" is a splendid expression. I am using it again and again." -Winston Churchill |

Dan says on May 9, 15:08: people on the local morning radio show said that they reviewed the video when they were talking about the two songs and he mouthed the words "don't vote". The radio show people were saying that he knew he wasn't going to make it and didn't want anyone to try voting for him. God Bless America! |
ColombiaAdopt3 says on May 9, 15:11: He has been interviewed by tons of Fox affiliates and he has cleared that up. He was saying VOTE, VOTE. He said it twice for emphasis.
Dan says on May 9, 15:12: I beg to differ, it still looks like he was saying "Don't Vote", but it does almost look like he was saying vote twice but I'm not sure about that.: God Bless America! |
ColombiaAdopt3 says on May 9, 15:14: That is clearly VOTE VOTE. Look at his lips saying the V sound.
ColombiaAdopt3 says on May 9, 15:14: Jason has a lot of fans. I don't even believe he got the lowest number of votes that night. Syesha doesn't have the fanbase he has. The AI producers have never released vote counts so we have no way of knowing. That night Ryan Seacrest said "Syesha, you're in the top 3". He never said, "Jason, you got the lowest number of votes".
Dan says on May 9, 15:17: Either way, he's gone now. I'm actually surprised that he lasted this long. I was more of a fan of a couple others that have been booted off the last few weeks or so. Right now, I'm thinking DaveCook will be the one to win. God Bless America! |
