Colombian Cellphone Carriers Offer Internet Access Via PDA smartphones?

My US bank is now offering Cellphone banking via a secure website and internet access originating from cellphones and PDA smartphones. Does anyone have experience using data service and internet access from their cellphone/pda carrier? I am not sure if this is available country-wide, but maybe in Bogota only? i would like to know if cellphone internet access is available in Cartagena, Barranquilla, Manizales....etc...

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about roaming on a US carrier, MC, or using a Colombian carrier? I have a US ATT PDA that works well in Colombia, but that's roaming.

I know that Movistar does... but that's in Bogota.... But, if it's the carrier, it should all over the place.. right?

La Mona.....i think Poco has the best cellphone holders on record....but, then again, i think he is about the only one who posts such photos, much to the approval of many posters...jajaja....

Mr H, i wanted to avoid US carriers as i would think the roaming charges would be outrageous.....what are you US ATT pda roaming charges like?....but if you can access the internet with your pda while in Colombia the network is setup, so cellphone wireless internet is possible, right? The next question would be are the Colombian carriers rates much cheaper?

ATT has unlimited international roaming for the Blackberry for about $70 a month. They'll shut you down, eventually, though, if it's run continuously, on foreign networks. For someone who travels around a lot, though, it's a good setup.

msaucey.....is moviestar now Telefonica? who hooked up with Telecom to offer their version of the Triple Play? i am sure the network etc, is setup in Bogota, just wonder if it is available along the coast and some of the interior cities.......

Mr H....$70 per month is a little high, but for business purposes it might be worth it.....thanks for the information!

Being able to step off an airplane anywhere in the world and have my email waiting is worth a lot to me. But it wouldn't be worth it just as a personal thing, I agree.

Comcel has a GPRS network that you can use. I did. Decent speed.
I don't know about Movistar and Tigo, but I guess they provide it as well.

That's what ATT roams on.

That is very true.....the banking end of the pda banking service is free, so maybe $70 is not so bad......=)

I'm pretty sure that Movistar is still it's own entity.... There a pretty big player in the latin world...

I'd say ask them directly.... I didn't look through the website for too long....
