Colombian Businesses in New York City

I know this is similar to the post about Jackson Heights, but let's see if we can change it a bit. I want to try to make a "directory" of Colombian businesses in NYC area(not just limited to Jackson Heights) that would include bakeres, restaurants, bars, gift shops, etc.

I'd like if you could include the name, what it is (restaurant? panadería?), the approximate location (i.e, near the 90th St.-Elmhurst Ave. stop on the 7 train, near 86 St. and 37th Ave.), and what you liked about it, and maybe a rating from one to ten.

Also, name thsoe businesses that you've tried that you DIDN'T like and say why. For example, I know Rubiazo had a hatred for Rincón Sabroso in the Elmhurst, Queens area.

La Hacienda 37 Av between 86th and 87th, south side.
My favorite restaurant in Queens! Ajiaco on Tuesdays, other specials on other days, asados every day, live entertainment on occasion. Colombian juices made fresh (as much as possible) in milk or water.

El Gato Goloso 37 Av between 87th and 88th, north side.
Not the greatest place in the world, but they have $5 complete lunches including everything. The other bonus is they have Hit and Alpina products there.

Expresito Carga 80Th street just N of Roosevelt, west side.
1.99lb to Colombia, 1.75 on Thursdays. 30% extra on declared value for electronics etc.
They also ship to Ecudador under more expensive and limited terms.

Cositas Ricas Roosevelt at 80th st, north side, right next to Expresito.
Basically a dessert and bakery place, but they also have other foods. I believe they are still open 24/7 IIRC. Excellent place, well worth going.

Ok, Good Start I have a million places I go to, but I'm too tired to think of all the addresses right now. I heard the MiraCali was about the only bad/mediocre thing as well s the Colombian restaurants/bakeries in that area, but I could be wrong. Anybody eaten at the Gusty Chicken? Yea? Nay? Also, what are the best specials (in terms of pricing) or cheapest places?

Chibcha/El Abuelo Gozón Roosevelt between 75th and 76th, north side.
Colombian nightclubs interconnected and featuring live humor, music etc. This used to be a great spot, I haven't been in years.

Pollos Mario There are two that I can think of offhand, but it's a chain of Colombian style chicken places. It's good and cheap and the Bandeja Paisa is huge, although you can honestly do better for restaurants in Queens. One is on 37th somewhere in the mid 80s the other is in the late 60s right on Roosevelt.

El Gato Goloso is probably going to be your cheapest, especially during the lunch special.

Raul Music Studios My friend Raul Osorio runs a small music studio on 86th between Roosevelt and 37th. He gives classes in piano, organ, theory, voice, violin etc working with a few different teachers as well as offers recording, arranging, and producing services. 718-779-7967 best time to reach him is early afternoons. He is an absolute hands down expert in all forms of Colombian music.

Pollos Mario is a chain There are tons of em all over the western half of Queens. There is one right on Roosevelt also, like not even 1/4 mile away from the one on 37th. There is also another one on Northern, plus another one further down on Roosevelt somewhere in the 60s.

Delgado Travel This is another chain, but the MAIN office is just across from Chibcha on Roosevelt, that is on the SOUTH side between 78th and 79th.

BTW Cositas Ricas is open Sun-Thurs until 2am and Fri-Sat until 4am now. Hopefully that will satisfy most late night cravings.
