Hey, wasn't Armstrong supposed to win.... in the mountains, where everyone says that is Armstong's strong suit? Botero (3rd place, 88 points) is leaving Armstrong behind. (6th place, 40 points)

Go, Botero!

Platano Congratulations to Santiago Botero he finish second but this race is called “Tour de France it consisted of 24 stages and they are in stage 14. Armstrong has lead 9 of 14 stages. The Tour de France goes on to July 24 with two rest days. What are you tell us that Botero is going to beat Armstrong be he came in second on one stage? Let see first Armstrong has won six year in a row if not the most one of the most dominate single person in any professional sport or for that matter any sport. Second he is in the lead by one minute and forty-one seconds which all and all it is a big lead, hence this is a double wami (second and third). Fourthly unless something bad happens, there are possibly two or three riders that could maybe catch him. Forth as stated by most reasonable expert “Lance Armstrong is the heavy favorite to win the 2005 Tour de France.

He is not supposed to win every stage.... He has lead in other mountains on the Tour already and he will lead more of them. Come on man he has lead 9 out of 14 stages! He has won the Tour de France 6 years in a row what does he have to do for you to consider a favorite? Defy the laws of nature, live to pass 100 years old, and win 100 Tour de France. I am curios who do you think is going to win?

The Gods are so unpredictable... And it ain't over till the fat lady sings... we'll have to wait until the end of stage 24 to know the winner.

But after 14 stages the Colombian Botero is still leading Armstrong, but by a narrower point margin.

Disputada este sabado sobre un recorrido de 220 kilometros de Agde a Ax-3 Domaines:

1. Michael Rasmussen, Dinamarca, Rabobank, 175 puntos
2. Christophe Moreau, Francia, Credit Agricole, 89
3. Santiago Botero, Colombia, Phonak, 88
4. Lance Armstrong, Estados Unidos, Discovery Channel, 76

Who Cares about King of The Mountains? Last time I checked it was ALL ABOUT the YELLOW JERSEY, which is STITCHED with Lance's name---not marked in crayon!

I am happy for Botero and all Colombian riders when they do well, but let's not be disrespectful or try to show things in a light that really isn't REALITY. The King of the Mountains, Sprints, and Rookies are nice and keep the field larger, which looks better for TV's sake, but the Tour De France(Lance) winner is what it is all about!

Thanks,

SoCalDude

Who Cares about King of The Mountains? Also, Lance will finish above Botero in the Mountain standings, so why even mention it?

Platano I think you misunderstand the admittedly complicated rules of the T.D. France. Botero, isn't "ahead" of Armstrong on the tour. He's ahead of him on one of the many smaller challenges within the race.

As of 5 minutes ago when I turned off the TV, Lance was in #1 overall and wearing the leaders jersey. BTW, I was anxiously looking for Botero, who I'd love to see do very well, but he seemed to have faded way back out of the front runners.

Oh, the light comes on for the green banana.... It is much more complicated than I had imagined....

But, finally, now I understand and thank all of you for explaining it to me...

Here is what I now understand: Lance is going to win.
