COLOMBIAN Aquivaldo Mosquera leads Club America to Superclassico triumph

In a showdown Sunday between arch rivals Club America and Chivas Guadalajara at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City before 100,000 chanting fans, Colombian Aquivaldo Mosquera scored the decisive goal three minutes into the game to give America the victory. A defender, Mosquera comes up for free kicks and corner kicks and tries to use his height to head the ball into the goal. On such a free kick from team mate Pavel Pardo, Mosquera scored the winning goal. In an interview later, he dedicated the goal to his pregnant wife:

It was a good weekend for Colombian footballers who play overseas. Rodallega with his two goals in the EPL. Juan Pablo Angel scored two goals in the MLS and now Aquivaldo. Even the Colombian U-17 team defeated Holland in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria!

Like the one played by Millonarios and Santa Fe Bogotá teams against Medellín and Nacional, the capital teams beat the Medellín teams.

Colombia has produced a pool of fine soccer players, unfortunately we cannot say the same thing about the coaches! Many of Colombian players started to play in other countries as Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Take a look at the links below and by the way this trend has started many moons ago.

Has anyone here heard of Falcao?

Good list but a little out of date. Club America bought Aquivaldo Mosquera from Sevilla for a fee of 4.2 million euros. A worthwhile investment I believe as he has played extremely well for them and bolstered their weak spot which was their defense.

As for Radamel Falcao García, of course we've heard of him. After a great career for River Plate, he is now playing splendidly for F.C. Porto of the Portuguese league.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
