Colombian Ahead of US in Gender Gap Index

The World Ecnomic Forum report measures the size of the gender gap in four critical areas of inequality between men and women. Colombia is 21 and the US is number 22 amongst the countries studied. It looks like the US is far behind Colombia in terms of womens education and political empowerment.

The United States performs particularly well on economic participation and opportunity (3) and on health (1), sharing the number one spot in this category with 33 other countries, but lags behind on political empowerment (66).

The thing that dragged the US down was a category called Political Empowerment in which it ranked 66 along with France at 60. The strange thing is Nancy Pelosi is now #3 in line to the presidency and France now has a woman candidate for president. Yet both countries are in there with Kazakhstan in that category.

Let's see. Would I rather have my mother and sister working and living in the US or in Colombia?

That's what slightly idiotic about the whole thing. Non stop sexual harassment is the recipe for Colombian women in the work place. My wife would be a millionaire in the US if she had had to endure here what she went through there. No lawsuits to protect the workers and the laws if there are any are completely ignored. I guess if the guy pisses you off enough you just have him whacked.
