Colombian / American UFC Fans

So since there are a few of us fight fans out here, I'de like to open this discussion on the Upcoming UFC.

My Teammate Aaron Riley will be facing Shane Nelson. Should be a good win for Aaron.

Italian Alesio Sakara is coming back off some Tough Losses...looking forward to see how he'll do agains Lietes. - I got Leites winning this one pretty strong

Looking forward to seeing Tamden McCrory...tough ass kid. Love watching this guy.

Florian vs. Penn should be great - I take Florian, might be underdog but I think he can take this.

Griffin vs. Silva - Silva looks unstoppable, but Griffing is one tough man who is at his best when he is the underdog.

Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pelligrino - barn burner of the night pick.

Nah, I doubt it. I thought about it, but like I said somewhere before...unless you are right up on the fights its much better to see on TV because you get better angles and views than you can sitting up in the stands. With the UFC the tix for seats are pricey and the floor or ringside are super pricey.

Yea, Neer and Pelligrino should be non-stop action. As discussed here before, McCrory is "The Barn Cat" and is probably so tough due to the boy-named-sue nickname.
I'll go out on a limb and take Florian, BJ is a god but Kenny wants it more and his cardio will be better.
Silva is my pick against Forrest, but that should be a very interesting match-up.

Rocco81 says on Jul 30, 2009, 13:01:

Well I still dont think barn cat is a gay name..like wild cat Tom "Big cat" Erickson...etc

To me its just a scrappy tough (not really attractive) alley cat.

Saltador says on Jul 30, 2009, 16:50:

Agreed, it's not that bad, and certainly not gay...hell, if I met him in person it'd be "glad to meet you Mr. Barn Cat Sir"...
You going with Silva over Forrest?

Fuck Affliction, bunch of sell out bastards. I had tickets for the august 1st fight, FEDOR the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world vs Josh Barnett, and Barnett SUPPOSEDLY tests positive for roids. They cancel the damn fight because they couldnt "find anyone who could challenge Fedor" and soon sign with UFC as the official clothing sponsor of UFC. I was so stoked for that fight, it would have been my first live MMA fight...but no...some shady shit happens of course. Screw Affliction! At least I got my damn money back, but yeah...good luck to me to go see Fedor if he comes to UFC. Tickets that I have to use binos for will be $200 haha.

Rocco81 says on Jul 30, 2009, 20:09:

Fuck Affliction aye aye sir...a bunch of retarded ass skull and flame T-shirts that look like they lost a fight with a god damned bedazzler. I could go on for an hour straight about how the new popularity of MMA / UFC has brought about the very worst in meat head, repressed homo, jock rah rah beat em up pole smokers, but I'll spare everyone. I loved fighting way before it was cool and I still like fighting when its not "scoially acceptable" especially when its not cool to a bunch of un-original dyed hair wearing, tribal tattoo sporting douchebags, who belong to the lowest common denominator of human that watches WWE. (This excludes Mexican Luchadors becauase they are cool) ;)

Anyhow this is not the first time Barnett has tested hot for the juice. Regardless Barnett is a great fighter and people forget his name because he's not in the UFC but he's def. a beast no doubt about it.

Fedor is of course great but he's gettig up there and is fighting less and less. I hate to say it but when he finally comes around to fight Lesnar he might be in for a definite L.

apeters says on Jul 30, 2009, 23:56:

well yeah....the question is if Fedor will even come to the UFC. With M-1 Global promoting him, they said they will accept an offer from UFC only if M-1 Global can co-sponsor the fight....you think Dana White would give into that? hahh.....yeah right! Hes the one trying to monopolize the biz....

apeters says on Jul 30, 2009, 23:58:

and no...WWE sucks balls :) You saw Brock Lesnars WWE attitude come out on UFC 100...I really do wish Fedor would come to UFC to beat the snot out of Brock. It would be nice to shut up the naysayers...but well I guess we will see!

as for the headline fights....im taking Penn and Griffin

0 funny, 0 helpful.

Rocco81 says on Jul 31, 2009, 08:16:

at Saltador...

Well you know Griffin is a real beast and is going to be much stronger than Silva. It can happen that Forrest wins and certainly Silva's riddle has been solved with his inability to put out his last few opponants.

I hate to say it, but I think this style wise is a bad match up for Forrest. I think he'll come game as always for the fight, but Forrest moves like a heavyweight and hits like a Light heavyweight - Silva moves like a middle weigh and hits like a heavyweight. Technically, Silva is better stand up and on the ground. Toughness and brawl a bility goes to Griffin.. So we'll see, but I take Silva early on. He was dissapointed in his last 2 or 3 showings and I think being as Forrest is an icon for UFC and a fan favorite, he'll come to take his head off.

Penn and silva win.....you were on crack to think that florian and griffin had a chance..sheeshhh

Rocco81 says on Aug 9, 2009, 21:01:

On crack eh? Ok bro..this is MMA...I was on crack to assume Sakara would lose? Leites took Silva to a decision and then Loses to Sakara who hasnt done well at all his last few fights.

Everyonbe in top 10 has a chance at upsets.

That's what a lot of these geniuses don't understand about top level MMA. It's almost like a chess match, so many different scenarios can play out. Matt Sera TKO's GSP? WTF! If they fought ten times, GSP would win 8 of them, but then there's those other two times...
esanch, nice call on the Silva/Griffin fight, predictions are a lot easier after the fight takes place LOL

what kind of media player do i need to watch it?

0 funny, 0 helpful.

Rocco81 says on Aug 10, 2009, 11:14:

Well Griffin def looked horrible and Silva looked ace no doubt. Silva didn't really dodge the punches though as Griffin was never really close enough to land anything in the first place. The punches were telegraphed and Forrest came from waaay back with them.

At any rate, Griffin's only chance was to get Silva down and make him fight a different kind of fight. Griffing basically followed Silva around the ring which is the last thing he wanted to end up doing. He even said that is what he did not want to do, but ended up doing just that.

Before you guys start talking trash about how you're always right, remember Griffin has beat the likes of Rua and Jackson (which nobody gave him a chance to beat) and then in turn has lost to guys like Keith Jardine that he really should not have lost to (on paper or fan opinion atleast) but as Saltador and I both are saying there is just an X factor to MMA and shit just happens sometimes. Not saying that Griffing would have won this fight, only saying that in my opinion I thought it would last longer or end a little different.

eeehh but what the fuck do i know...ill take your word he didnt

0 funny, 0 helpful.

Rocco81 says on Aug 10, 2009, 11:50:

No esanch36, I mean I guess you could say he "dodged" them. If anything Im agreeing with you, but going further and saying Griffin was never really in range to do much danger in the first place.

No need for apology brada, we're all fight fans and I love a good friendly debate on my favorite sport.
