Colombia vs. Panama

This is the responce that I got from my friend in Panama about my concern for him and his wife. These are the people who were victims of a home invasion a couple weeks ago. At least in Colombia the Police show up and take a report.

"thanks we dont talk about it much i gave %%%% a interveiw on the fone he is trying to get panama city police involved they have not even taken my statement and it has been two weeks today .. "

wifes finger ok so far trying to save it wont have much use but will be there .. have not spent a nite at home since it happened"

In other Panama news, a Colombian bussinessman has been kidnapped and is being held fot $20,000.00 ransom. His burned out car was found abandonded.

Hi Lowell, again sorry about your friend & his wife. Is he from the U.S.? What region were they living in? Seems like more foreigners are being targeted by a few roving gangs there.
Look forward to seeing you in another month, behave!

Lowell, based on another post you made, seems like perhaps there was more at work here, than a simple "target the gringo" home invasion- but whatever the case, I hope your friends pull thru OK.

That was my impression too, slguy. I think this happened in the Arenal/western Lago Gatun area.

Lowell says on Nov 18, 2007, 13:34:

Yep, they live near Arenosa on Largo Gatun. I wonder about the cause too. I do know that he isn't into drugs or illegal activities. Could have been tagged and followed. He's from the States (LA) and his wife is Panamanian.

I thought I was almost setup by evil taxista in April out on Amador causeway but thankfully lucked way out of it.

What about that Gringa from Nueva York who they found all chopped up and stuffed inside a suitcase back in April? Anyone heard anything on that?

Did see a couple special forces Panamanian soldiers with Italian Uzi type guns in the old town and another on way out to Colon day trip hunting for something.

An American woman is in custody for that murder. two others (Colombians) are still at large and probably back in Colombia. VEP "Don Winner" posted an interview that he had with my friends. Interesting story.
