Colombia Vs. Ecuador

No, I am not talking a soccer game, just wondering out of curiosity how much safer Quito is than Bogota? I will have the chance to relocate next year and my husband (an English man) says he would follow me anywhere. We have a 12 year old so safety and peace of mind are extremely important.
