Colombia vs. Chile

This game is about to get going...

Colombia is holding onto a playoff berth for a world cup spot (Playoff against a north american team)... actually Chile is a direct rival for this spot so they need at least a tie. However, if Colombia doesn't win then Pinto will be on the hot seat...

The Colo Colo winger could be replacing Giovanni Hernández in the midfield as one of the 5 changes that will be made to the Colombian team.

SANTIAGO.- Colombia is set to go up against Chile at 6:40PM today in an attempt to secure a spot in the classification for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

As part of their strategy, the Colombian team's coach, Jorge Luis Pinto, has stated that he will make "four or five changes", but has so far only mentioned two "new" names: Pablo Armero and Pedro Portocarrero.

On the defense, Armero will debut at the qualifying match as a left-forward replacing Estiven Vélez, while center-fielder Luis Amaranto Perea may replace Camilo Zúñiga as a right striker and could be paired with Aquivaldo Mosquera. Meanwhile, Portocarreo would take Perea's place.

There could also be some changes to center field: José Amaya may be put in instead of Carlos Sánchez and Colo Colo player Macnelly Torres may go in for Giovanni Hernández. On the offense, Tressor Moreno could replace Radamel Falcao García.

According to the Colombian newspaper "El País", coach Jorge Luis Pinto "is considering the possibility getting rid of the set-up since Hernández and Torres have not been able to perform with it. Torres would be brought back and the team would play a 4-4-2 set up or a 4-5-1, but not the 4-3-1-2 that it used against Uruguay".

Juan Luis Pinto himself stated, "we will attack because there is space", following the squad's latest practice yesterday in Santiago.

4-0 yet I still endure the torture.... Burn that friggen shirt please.

Did I mention that it's all over but the crying? Pinto is going to have to hand out firearms if Colombia is going to pull this off. And I'm not just talking about this match.

Thats what Pinto gets for calling up players like Anchico, Portocarrero, Tressor, F. Vargas, Giovanni Hernandez and Humberto Mendoza even though this last one didn't play. Deja la rosca Pinto!

Where is Carlos Valdes? Jonathan Estrada? Fredy Montero? Paolo Cesar Arango? Aldo Leao? Ivan Velez? Giovanni Moreno? Rafael Robayo? Luis Fernando Mosquera and the list continues.... even Cristian Zapata injured is better then "el tronco de Portocarrero".

How come Juan Pablo Angel from the NY Red Bulls or Luis Gabriel Rey from the Mexican league aren't playing? There is still a lot of life in those guys.

no offense, but if theres no drug money involved in colombia football they have no chance on international level. maybe im wrong and its also the lack of young players with motivation and big heart...
