Colombia v. Uruguay

Saturday 7:20 EST

The only undefeated team in South America, Colombia continues it's quest for South Africa. Playing in Bogota, Colombia needs to go for all 3 points. Pinto needs to show that he's not merely a defensive mastermind and bring out an offensive game and take it to the Uruguayans.

What are you doing for the game?

I'm having a Fiesta at my house, everyone's invited. cover charge is a bottle of guaro. I already hired a lady to make bandeja paisa for all my Uni friends, maybe some empanadas as well.

anyways, I see this as a must win game, and I'm sure Colombia will come out strong.

I am in Calgary for the weekend Romy, but unfortunately I have a party to attend at the Ship & Anchor so by the time the game starts I won't be in any shape to be a decent guest.

Have fun though, it'll be a GREAT game.

Pinto: I Know Uruguay Very Well

Jorge Luis Pinto, the coach of Colombia, affirmed that although he knows Oscar Tabarez well, he believes that the coach could still make some changes to his Uruguay side for their vital World Cup qualifier...

Am are reading this wrong, or are you saying Colombia is undefeated? I went to the Colombia v. Ecuador game on 8/20 and Colombia lost. It was a fun game at Giants stadium.

viajero123 says on Sep 4, 2008, 17:39:

juicerbud, Colombia is undefeated in the South American qualifiers, and I don't see that changing in the game with Uruguay. That game with Ecuador was just a friendly fixture, qualifier games are played in the country of one of the two teams playing. There should be a way for PBHers to do a bet on this game, una polla!

My prediction (based on nothing more than pure speculation): Colombia 2- Uruguay 1

However, Uruguay are a very hungry team, and were really hurting when they missed out last time. I was in Uruguay and they didn't even mention the world cup, it was too painful for them!!! They don't want a repeat mistake.

I thought they had turned El Campin into an all-seater for the World Cup... I guess laws of the jungle still apply for las Generales...

anyways, Argentina just tied, and there's still 2.5 hours until Colombia plays, Canada plays later on.

Vamos Colombia! I'd like to book my tickets to South Africa as soon as possible

oh well, it was fun but disappointing. i wanted to see at least one home goal after standing in the sun waiting to get in all day. there was a goal but he was called offsides. no one realized it for a few seconds so at least we got a taste of what it is like when they score. hopefully the next game will have a better result!

no clue. they looked awful. everyone in the stands was letting them know too. they were very very very tentative with the ball. i wondered about 60 minutes in if they really wanted to win. they would get the ball in the box and try to dribble around some more. it was infuriating! just shoot the ball!!!

Did Rodallega play? I watch the guy on tv all the time playing for Necaxa in the Mexican League and he's made some amazing goals.

Until Colombia finds a true PLAYMAKER, like el Pibe Valderrama, we ain't going anywhere!!

Everybody blames the forwards.......that we can't score...... the problem is Midfield.

utopiacowboy says on Sep 7, 2008, 10:40:

You're absolutely right, wOw. Necaxa's midfield can get Rodallega the ball in an advantageous position. Watch him in the Mexican league and you'll see how dangerous he is given some help.
