LIMA, Peru: Colombian President Alvaro Uribe says an Interpol report provides overwhelming evidence his government did not manipulate rebel laptops showing Venezuelan support for Colombian guerrillas.
In a news conference Thursday, Interpol said its investigation showed that computer files suggesting Venezuela was arming and financing Colombian guerrillas came from a rebel camp and were not tampered with.
Uribe commented on the Interpol investigation after arriving in Lima on Thursday for a Latin America-Europe summit.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez denounced the report as "ridiculous," saying a "show of clowns" surrounded the announcement. But the findings are sure to increase pressure on Chavez to explain his relationship with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC

Russia, China, and France have continually obstructed the efforts of others to sanction Iran. Let's hope that no one interferes here. Of course the other SA lefties mean little.

BUT, as you say slguy, these are suppositions, legally. That's it exactly, and a criminal test of legality is what is required here. The consequences of this sort of finding requires that, surely? billyb says on May 16, 2008, 12:01: When the files say that they(the FARC) donated X amount of money to Correa's campaign, would that not also incriminate him? Or when they say that Chavez' military will sell them AA missiles and provide a port through which they can enter them, would that not tend to incriminate Chavez? Not to mention that they also reveal that the FARC ambushed a group of petroleum engineers and their military escorts, killing six people inside venezuela, and then conspired with the chavez gov to keep it quiet and blame it on colombian paras. This came from their own emails from their own computer, how to explain this, unless you adscribe that hysteria to the FARC itself?

billyb says on May 16, 2008, 21:10: SIV and Alma, it is clear that you are not FARC supporters, although a little confused ;) But since the basis of your skepticism of the PC docs is the fact that they didn't explicity spell out hugo chavez and ratica correa by name, who do you think they were refering to when they mention "el senor" across the border, or when they say they have to contribute to la camarada en ecuador que esta corriendo por presidente? You do know that the FARC always refers to themselves by nom de guerres? And it takes somebody quite naive to think that they wouldn't give their foreign benefactors code names, so the whole argument that they weren't named explicity is a false premise.
