Colombia Phone Number in US, VOIP??? Is it possible?

I have a few friends in Colombia and would like for them to just be able to call me w/o too much expense. Can I get a Colombia (Medellin) phone number via VOIP in the US?

I see that many people do this the other way, by setting up a US VOIP number in Colombia, but when you have more than 1 person wanting to call you (US). It would be better for me to have a Colombian Phone number here?

Has anybody done this? Who are the VOIP providers in Medellin?

Thanks.

Telefono rojo, y/o directo There is one company (Telefono rojo, y/o directo)offering such service, although it its kind of expensive, about 30 USD monthly, if your friends got broadband access they coul call you as cheap as $0,034 cents per minute y/o around $70 colombian pesos.

Some people would recomend Vonage, but you again have to pay a monthly fee, in order to keep the USA number.

For inbound and outbound calls same deal can be offered by Icallhere for the USA number or other countries, for only outgoing calls Phoneserve has a good service.

The Voip devices are offered without any extra cost, only tha you will need to sign up for a year contract, while if you get the unlocked devices they can be set up with the provider of your choices and change it if you are not satisfied with the current provider.

Webmanco Could you please give me the website address for the service provider of VOIP that can assign Colombian telephone numbers (Telefono rojo). I use a service in Panama called Clarocom.com that assigns Panamanian telephone numbers and I was unaware of a Colombian provider that can assign Colombian numbers. Your assistance is appreciated.

The original poster can use any VOIP provider combined with call bridging equipment and a local telephone line to accomplish his goal.

Let me know how you like it.

I might contact Clarocom.com for a relative that had to go and live in Panama.

Webmanco I have used it (Claroline) for about 9 months and it works great. I also have a four line ATA adapter in my office and it works great too. They have two residential plans one for $10.00/month and another for unlimited calling for $20.00/month.

Thanks for the info.
