Theee is in my experience massive interest in visiting our nature reserves in Colombia, not just from North America but especially from Europe, and even a little from Asia. But converting this interest into concrete tourism is going to take 2-3 years plus in some cases. Colombia is a lot safer than people think, but it is also not as cheap relatively as it used to be, and internal travel is slow except by air. Also whilst Colombians are incredibly hospitable and polite, they often have little idea how to satisfy the service standards expected by foreigners. They are learning fast, we will get there soon, but it takes time.

I wouldn't worry about, or count on, any sort of rush.
More than a trickle of the past? Sure.

'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. 'COLOMBIAN ENOUGH'?? jejeje..a mixture, I think, of stupidity mixed with a false sense of arrogance.. How 'colombian' do you have to be? to be 'colombian enough

It has to start somewhere, and it looks like its already started.

A slow start is better then a fast one.... It will HOPEFULLY, give us the ability to improve services and what not... But, then again, we'll see..

It should be a good think....

I would not like to see Bogota run over
with celebrities and high prices. A lot of
us seek a city experience without that
stuff. The cool damp climate hopefully
will keep away that glitz. I hope......

No worries DavidP. I don't there is going to be a huge influx of pasty whites anytime soon in Bogota or Colombia as a whole.

The only people who are happy about this news are those like webmanco, who make money from Tourism.

The funny thing about promoting tourism is that the promoters sell the place as being something different and unusual, but in the process, everywhere becomes more the same.

Even the tourists themselves tend to become insipid and boring, flying half-way around the world to stay in a western hotel, hang out at a Hard Rock Cafe, take idiotic snapshots and buy stupid T-Shirts.

Hell... they could do all that without leaving Podunk.

Funny how we keep seeing the exact same story written over again and again. And outside Cartagena, really very little factual basis for it.

Yea, until the countryside really opens up, I don't see the attraction. Someday, I'd really like to see the Pacific side. I love to sport fish, dive and used to surf. Maybe with a little tow in help I could do some point surfing. Too old for reefs and beach breaks.
