I have decided to travel Colombia in November this year for 2 weeks. I searched this forum and the web to check if November is a good time to travel but could not find specific info. I understand that Colombia is a vast country with diverse climates. Most of the "when to go" sections talk about the best time and worst time to go. November does not fall into any of the best or worst travel seasons. So pls help.
These are the places I plan to visit-
Colombia - Bogota and surrounding areas - Villa de Leyva, Medellin, Zona Cafetera (1 week). I understand
Bogota is quite wet in Nov ? And other places ??
Amazon - Fly to Leticia. Spend 4-5 days along Rio Javary in Amazon ? How is Amazon in Nov ?
If time permit Cartagena, Tayrona etc. Carribean should be fine weather-wise.
I am also thinking of taking additional 1 week off and go to Peru - Cuzco, Machu Pichu (no hiking), other Andean towns (1 week) Any help on Peru weather also appreciated.
Thanks.

Gator says on Jun 26, 2008, 17:55: Since the Pilgrims did NOT land in Colombia that is no problem, None of the schools are out for holiday so that takes care of that. BUT, November 11 is the Independencia de Cartagena and the Miss Colombia (Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Colombia) contest. During that time the city can get crowded and if you particular accomodations in mind now is the time to lock them in. houstongal says on Jun 26, 2008, 19:03: Antelope - I spent 2 weeks in Peru and I still didn't get to everything that I wanted to. You probably will need to take 2 trips in order to do all that you want in 2 countries. "It is now official: there's no place on earth where you will not find a Peruvian band." houstongal says on Jun 26, 2008, 19:05: Yup, still together. Dad is in his 80's so it's a bit late to do anything. Mom is 12 years younger than Dad. They never fit together. We could always tell it was an arranged marriage. "It is now official: there's no place on earth where you will not find a Peruvian band." David Sedaris 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

houstongal says on Jun 26, 2008, 19:12: Yup. They do now, but growing up they were night and day and it was very obvious. Nothing of common interest. I am proud of the fact that they could hold it together for 48 years. Mom wasn't looking for a green card. This was just the accepted way of doing things (much like people from India). She left her career in Japan, had to learn English, and started another career when we were able to take care of ourselves reasonbly well. houstongal says on Jun 26, 2008, 19:26: I think the Disney princess life is a modern day myth. I don't know what my Mom expected when she moved. She really didn't have a choice. Her sister turned my Dad down. Mom got my Dad by default. Certainly her life wasn't easy when they arrived. Unlike most Colombianas she left her family behind. I think she got busy raising the kids and making a home for Dad, like all good Japanese women. As you know in many Asian societies, honor is more important than anything. So she made the best of a not-so-perfect situation. "It is now official: there's no place on earth where you will not find a Peruvian band." David Sedaris 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
