Colombia gets Chupeta’s fortune; will build houses for poor
August 28th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Colombia just got richer by 81 million U.S. dollars, 2 million euros, 25 million pesos, 307 bars of gold and 8 houses.

A decision by the Colombian Superior Court rejected U.S. claims to the fortune of recently extradited drug trafficker Juan Carlos Ramírez Abadía, known as ‘Chupeta’ or Lollipop, El Pais reported Thursday.

The court also dismissed claims to a percentage of the treasure by the informant whose information had lead to its discovery, noting the police had already paid a one million dollar reward, the newspaper reported.

The money will be used to construct, with Comfenalco’s help, 2,400 houses in the town of Santa Elena the south of Cali, as well as complete the city’s ‘Potrero Grande’ project. The initial investment will be $80 million.

An additional $95 million will be used to construct houses for low-income families in low-lying coastal areas in Puerto.

To think we made a claim to his fortune absolutely disgusts me.. The fortune as it is, hopefully will be used for what it says it will be used for.

Let us hope 100% of this money goes to help the poor. And not fill the corrupt pockets of local politicians.

Lollipop should be proud and gratified to know how his hard earned dinero is being spent. I would say that once again that would have to be consider a quick and intelligent response from highest levels of Colombian govt. Dam good p.r. de todo modo.......
