After reading some Italian newspapers this morning, I was full of anger.
Large resonance has been given to the "military aggression of Colombia" toward Ecuador.
Not a single line on the documents that prove that Venezuela and Ecuador were working hand in hand with FARC.
They are so biased that they paint Uribe as an aggressor, the head of a imperialist government, a sort of fascist dictator. Uribe is responsible for the hostages not being released.
And the poor Correa and Chavez (what does he have to complain? They do not explain) trying to get justice in an international court, when they were working for the release of Ingrid Betancourt.
So, I moved my lazy ass and went to talk to the Italian Consul in Medellin to protest and see what they are doing. Just to find out that he was more furious than me.
They just cannot get the communication right to Italy. The press is biased, everywhere.
They try, but no results.
So, that's enough said about the kind of support that we can have from home.
He said that we must thank the USA if Colombia won't be considered a world ghetto.

kalder says on Mar 4, 2008, 11:44: That's appalling. But, alas, no surprise. Italy's media, education system, arts etc. have a reputation for entrenched leftist bias. Italy's finest 20th century novel, Eugenio Corti's 'The Red Horse', has been virtually blacklisted by the commie intelligentsia. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

kalder says on Mar 4, 2008, 11:46: The London Times seems to be taking a dispassionate approach- just reporting the events. However, most of the comments from subscribers are taking an ANTI-Chavez tone. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

kalder says on Mar 4, 2008, 11:54: Even the left-liberal Guardian newspaper seems measured in its reporting. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

Desideria (Moderator) says on Mar 4, 2008, 12:00: For what's it worth, Dagens Nyheter from Stockholm, Sweden, is doing the same thing as The London Times. There's an undercurrent in the reporting that feels slightly negative about BOTH Chavez and Uribe. It's been a mixed bag; while DN praises Chavez' mediation for bringing the hostages out of the jungle, it also criticises Chavez meddling in Colombia's affairs and is trying to fit the recent events in a bigger picture and give some historical background. Perhaps "criticises" is a wrong word; it rather reports the criticism directed at both. "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

robi666 says on Mar 4, 2008, 12:06: So, Desi, not a word about the documents that would prove that Chavez and Correa were working hand in hand with FARC? "I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present." |
|
Desideria (Moderator) says on Mar 4, 2008, 12:22: Yes, they are reporting about the laptop and the letters, theat Chavez had sent them the reported amount of money and that they had sent Chavez money when he was in prison; also the rupture of the diplomatic relations with Ecuador ...pretty much the same thing as the rest of the world press. jonas says on Mar 4, 2008, 13:13: I am sure if you had read one of Berlusconi´s newspapers you wouldn´t have had to be angry... What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been |

robi666 says on Mar 4, 2008, 13:23: Although Berlusconi own newspapers, he cannot control the minds of the people writing in them. "I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. pedro says on Mar 5, 2008, 10:32: I read somewhere else in the press that the US identified that Reyes was on xyz telephone number by signals interceptions. ¡save pow wow! |
|
ColombianoGringo says on Mar 5, 2008, 10:38: Supposedly, the US did identify Reyes position based on a satellite call a few weeks ago. The Colombian government does not deny this, nor is there anything wrong with such intelligence assistance. Since then, Colombian military and police elements had tracked him using more conventional methods. Apparently, he was very cautious and only used a satellite phone on rare occasions.

billyb says on Mar 5, 2008, 10:49: jajaja, you have to love the poetic justice of it. It seems it was a call from our beloved monkey next door that was the one that was tracked to Reyes, yes, there is a god!!!!!

robi666 says on Mar 6, 2008, 03:51: I didn't want to do it, but... I've done it... I use to stay within decency, but after jonas comment I had to do it... huskie says on Mar 6, 2008, 04:48: Well of course, a newspaper run by the communist party....what do you expect? They need to publish something to help their fellow communists, Chavez, Farc, Cuba etc. BTW I read several of the articles and they seem very biased, the editorial March 5 for example "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds-" |

Desideria (Moderator) says on Mar 6, 2008, 09:30: Dagens Nyheter, Sweden is reporting that all Latin America, with the inclusion of Mexico and Peru as of today, are backing Ecuador and Colombia is only backed by the US. |
ColombianoGringo says on Mar 6, 2008, 09:32: That may be so and is not necesarily a bad thing, but they are picking the wrong battle. Opposition to the US should not be expressed by effectively undermining the efforts to battle a terrorist organization such as the farc.
|
|
robi666 says on Mar 6, 2008, 12:53: I would rather be backed by the US then all the rest of the whole world countries. "I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present." |

|
romy says on Mar 6, 2008, 13:29: robi, do you say this because of strategy and coming out on top in any potential conflict? Or is it that the US decides right and wrong?
|
|
robi666 says on Mar 6, 2008, 13:45: Yes, it was an exaggeration, but in case of conflict I would. "I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present." |
|
billyb says on Mar 6, 2008, 13:47: Populous consensus is what allowed the world to standby while 800,00 Rwandans were massacred, and is what will allow those criminals and their venezuelan puppetmaster to destroy our democracy. At least there is one country out there right now that Colombia can coun't on, the rest can kiss our a$$.
