Colombia baby baptism favors

I have a Colombian friend visiting me in Florida. She is trying to find favors for her grandson's upcoming Baptism in Colombia. She is trying to explain to me the tradition, but she doesn't speak english very well. From what I gather, she is looking for some very small boxes, and some kind of tweezers to remove colored sugar cubes from the box...

Does anybody know anything about this, or possibly where I can get these items either online, or in a store?

Thanks a lot,
Joyce

Something like this? http://www.sugarcubes.ca/sugarcubeprices.htm

Apparently it is an old European thing, so I guess things catch on differently all over the place.

And those would be little sugar cube *tongs* (imho tweezers and sugar just don't go together to well)!! I never saw granulate coffee suger until I was 6 becuase were I grew up everyone just used sugar cubes and so the tongs were really common. My mother's friends all had silver ones.

On a side note The same business also offers decorated almendras! I loved the candy coated almonds that can be found in Colombia so I've been always search them out - in my searches I discovered that they are common as favours in Italian weddings.

more information I asked her yesterday, and she is looking for the sugar tongs to be part of the party favors, so she really needs approximately 30 boxes, and 30 tongs. I've been looking all over, but cant seem to find the tongs for an affordable price.

How 'bout $3 ea? Maybe they'll give you a discount since you are buying so many? http://www.rosemarycompany.com/3020.html

jangona says on Aug 30, 2005, 13:37:

discounted rate I sent them an email, and they basically told me unless we planned to buy more than 100 tongs, they would not discount the price at all...
