When it no longer mattered, Colombia finally showed some pizazz in beating Paraguay 2-0 in Ascuncion. Goals by Adrian Ramos and Hugo Rodallega sealed the win.
In other South American WCQ action, Brazil tied Venezuela 0-0, Peru beat Bolivia 1-0, Argentina stamped their ticket to South Africa with a 1-0 win over Uruguay and Chile ended Ecuador's hopes with a 1-0 victory. The great Humberto Suazo of Chile, El Chupete, was the top South American WCQ scorer with 10 goals.

Simon says on Oct 14, 2009, 21:01: Notice how it was all the Bolivarian countries (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia) who did not qualify. "Just an honest, decent Colombian trying to do the right thing."--Simon 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Shortiao says on Oct 15, 2009, 02:42: Colombia are such a frustrating team. They are undoubtedly good enough. They have decent enough players but for some reason just don't bond well. "cuando una persona toma otro pasaporte....pierde su identidad!" - Shortiao 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

utopiacowboy says on Oct 15, 2009, 03:52: Paraguay fielded pretty much the same group of players that defeated Venezuela on Saturday. Interestingly enough, Paraguay has been unable to defeat Colombia in Ascuncion since 1998. Paraguay had previously defeated Colombia 1-0 in Bogota. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
