Coffee Zone

I'm returning to Colombia in October to vistit my girls family in Bogota. I wanted to return back to the Caribe but its the wet season so we were thinking about the coffee zone instead. Any suggestions on places to stay and see?. I know nothing of the region..is it possible to party a little in this place as I am also taking along my single friend and he may want to party a bit and possibly meet some "friendly locals".
All suggestions appreciated.

There's a post with a few links of places to stay in the zona cafetera. I'm sure if you do an extensive search, you'll find them. They seemed pretty cool.

As for places to stay - I have used this group and they have many great options: www.turismoquindio.com/

Also, they have packages and can arrange many different activities for you in the area.

As for things to do and see, the Temales at Santa Rosa De Cabal are a must! Salento/Valle De Cocorra are awesome as well as the parks - Parque Cafe and Panaca.

Stay at Hacienda Santa Barbara. We were just there and it was amazing. The nearby towns of Salento, Quimbaya, Circasia and Montenegro are amazing too. We went to Panaca Park and Coffee Park. Both were excellent. In Salento eat at Balcones de Ayer restaurant. They have huge patacons they serve your fish or meat on. Armenia is also very clean, safe and friendly for a big city. The central park in Armenia is beautiful. Whatever you do make sure the bridge on La Linea is up and working. Otherwise it could be a long trip. From Bogota it should take 10 hours by bus.

No offense to beisbollover, but skip the coffe Park and Panaca, save up and go to Disney instead. Then again it depends what you want but since you're partyers... Armenia can be OK. Salento is Ok for a night or two, but DON'T dress up, it's a cowboyish type town (also watch your lip, never seen so many fights than when I spent 2 weeks there). Every place in Salento serves the patacons with fish. Heed what beisbollover said about la linea. Would really suck to be stuck onthat mountain for 2 days. Don't know how, but I always missed it.

Central Park in Armenia is, well, OK for a quickie tour, but you could see way more kick-ass stuff on the outskirting rivers. Too bad I don't live there anymore as I could've taken you all around.

I agree, Balcones de Ayer is excellent (think trout) and they have very clean, very well prized rooms upstairs with cable TV and b'fast included tel (6) 758-3273 or 312-226-2921.

Don't miss Salento. They have coffee growing farms you can check out and the Valle del Cocora with the wax palms is a fantastic site to see.
