There are many Renault Masters still running,, they go faster downhill but still run.

A 323 Mazada clutch appears be about $90 USD, about the same as 170,000 pesos. The labor for ANYTHING is always much less.

I've been asked to bring car parts to Colombia. Three years ago parts were a LOT more money, if you could get them.

I've seen Colombians spend HOURS fixing an item at their low labor rate. Not that it makes any difference in the end result,,, the car runs, but I can't help but wonder if they replaced the presure plate material?

This type of repair would NOT be done in the US,, tooooo, labor intensive, however there are many parts houses with part trade in's and are sent to a remanufacturing facility, rebuilt and sold as reconditioned.

I need to check on this. Damn,, pretty soon I won't have time to sleep late next time I'm in Colombia.

if you drive a skoda and water starts pouring out from underneath the dash (under hood, not in car), it is the heater core. the posts are made of plastic and they eventually break.

it is a $400k part here in medellin and you do not need the part in the tropics.

just remove one of the hoses that feed the heater core, trim off about 3 inches from the second hose and connect it directly into the original feed. in other words, ditch one of the two hose and bypass the heater core all together.

skoda price at dealership - $500k (including non needed new heater core)

my price and 1.5 hours removing old heater core - FREE!

jorgediaz, you can get a 2007 Burbuja, Venezuelan, for around 20 millions. Not 1,5 million and no blood on or under the seats.

vicshere says on Mar 26, 2008, 18:58:

In Colombia patching neumáticos( tubes) is common, and plugging tires is rare.

Do they sell the plug patching kits like they do here in the US? I have never owned a car without one of these kits and one of those cheesy 12 volt air compressors. They have saved my butt many a times.

on tube less tires here the guy takes your tire right off the wheel and vulcanize a patch from the inside which I think is a much better job .....there they stick a piece of rubber in the hole with some glue....sure its faster but....I have never trusted those things stick things

Vic I use them all the time DIY style and have yet to have problems with one. Now of course all the time constitutes about five flats. But with out removing the tire I can patch and reinflate the tire and be down the road in fifteen or twenty minutes.
