"Classic" Bogota Restaurants

Andres Carne de Res in Chia, an area on the outskirts of Bogota is excellent. Not a classic but try any of the Crepes & Waffles chain, La Fragata is on the top floor of the World Trade Center and has excellent seafood. It rotates so a great view of Bogotá at night. Open all night? Desayunadero de la 42 on Carrera 14 No 42-06. For typical Colombian food in an "old colonial" setting try on the three Casa Vieja restaurants. One downtown, one about half way towards the Zona Rosa and the other in the Zona Rosa. Casa Vieja is known for the quality of its ajiaco, the traditional Bogotá dish. I think you would be pleased with any of these.

I would recommend the Casa Vieja downtown for lunch after a visit to the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum). This is a DO NOT MISS, breathtaking dis[play of pre-colombian gold-largest in the world. Schedule a vist to the La Candelaria district, the area where the city was originally founded. Great churchs and colonial architecture.

Andres Carne de Res gator is on the money with this recommedation. i have been there several times, the food and atmosphere are great and at a very reasonable price. I don't know if you drink, but give their sangria a try, it is excellent.

The only Mexican restaurant I can think of in that area is El Carnal, across the street from Andino (cheap but ok). There's also La Taquería (big thumbs down) and Casa de la Cultura de Mexico (good). Any of those names ring a bell?

according to what I've heard, el museo del tequila is the best mexican rstaurant, calle 86 carrera 13... but a really classic restaurant is tramonti, in la calera...

I'm not sure if you mean Zona T or Calle 82. I am assuming you mean Zona T since you keep mentioning a pub. Unfortunately, there are no mexican restaurants that I know of on zona T.
